Just a beautifull property, with character and charm, and immaculately maintained garden area.Breakfast offered a great choice of dishes to suit all tastes. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, always attentive but never intrusive.Free parking in hotel's own lot. It was a quaint hotel in a private location. It was close to the beach and to shopping. The staff was very friendly. The bartender (Jessica) and the woman who did the waffle station for the brunch were particularly friendly and helpful. Very happy with the staff.
all reviews » We stayed for 2 nights, and enjoyed everything about the hotel: the gardens were a beautiful place to relax in the afternoon, champagne brunch was a great way to start the day, and the close proximity to both the beach and town was very convenient. The room was cozy with a beautiful view of the ocean. The windows do open so you get that fresh ocean breeze..The breakfast was amazing along with the warm and friendly staff. The rooms are comfortable with nice linens and comfy pillow top bed. I loved the small, inviting atmosphere of the hotel. Our room was luxurious and comfortable. The roaring fire place is the lobby was fantastic. Will definitely stay there again. Very welcoming staff but not overly attentive. Relaxing atmosphere. Great patio to enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean anytime of the day or evening. Very comfortable rooms. We selected this hotel because my daughter has migraines and we wanted a quiet relaxing stay. We woke up to protesters who were right outside of our window at 8 am on Sunday morning. It was a disturbance to most but it was very painful for my daughter. I did not expect to have protestors interrupt our quiet vacation. I was told by the hotel staff that this happens once a month. Waking up to that noise started a day of migraine for my daughter and pretty much ruined the last day of our trip. Having to leave. The bathtub drain was slow and the sink area small for us ladies. The windows don't stay open by themselves so they kept hitting the back of the wall all night. They swung freely banging against the hotel wall. not a thing!!!. $100 add on "convenience fee" should be noted that it's going to be put thru as an original charge and then credited back if there were no charges to the room. when I called La Playa to confirm, they didn't have record of my reservation, made weeks before. Bookings.com people straightened this out, getting me the original price for which I booked the rooms. No Spa. Would like a second chair in the room. Having to leave !!. The hotel room and lobby was warm. We couldn't find air conditioning in our room. It would have been nice to have a bathtub of some sort. Also, the bathroom was cramped -- the door wouldn't even open completely. Some noise from outside of the room (both street and hallway). They changed our room from Ocean View to Pool Side, indicating it was a "free upgrade" without notifying us. They were able to change it back to an ocean view but not to one of the more desirable ocean view rooms. The picketers who started up at 8 AM Friday morning. could hear conversation outside my window!! Picky ha I know. Small bathroom. Noisy, given that it is apparently a wedding/reception venue!. No hot tub yet or lunch/dinner food service. Nothing. No restaurant. The bar menu could be more varied. No restaurant at hotel, but shuttleservice offerd. Very noisy. Bathrooms tiny & uncomfortable. Rooms small. Restaurant recommendation. I would never get a discounted room here again. We have stayed there several times, and it has always been great but this time our room was really bad. Very small, hot and stuffy!. Walls were very thin... Rooms were tiny for the price. Very nice place but be weary if they are having an event during your stay. They didn't have air conditioner, it was very noisy and not that private as we needed in our honeymoon. Ocean view mean partial ocean view, overlooking the hotel roof and home rooflines. The bathroom has barely enough room to turn around in. The TV is so small you had to sit at the end of the bed to watch it and there was plenty of room for a larger or wall mounted TV. In order to open the blinds, we had to move furniture for each window. Loud sounds of grinding machine waked us up in 8.20 am. The room was small and airless. For such a price!. way over priced, staff was snooty, no hot tube. Decent hotel but room was very small relative to the price tag. I have stayed in some very small hotel rooms in Europe, nyc, Tokyo, etc.; La Playa was not the smallest I've ever seen but it was probably the worst value ($/sq ft) I've ever had.
