Loved george and joan lovely people their home is magical and we were
treated as friends staying rather than guests beautiful views great area
with lots of fabulous lakes and towns to visit much quieter on the roads
than the lakes and just as beautiful huge bedroom enormous comfortable

so quiet the reason I am in capitals is because I have had a fall and

George and Joan are a lovely couple who will make you feel very welcome in their beautiful home. George gave us coffee and biscuits when we arrived and even offered us a glass of wine (which we declined) that set the tone for the rest of our stay. You can come and go as you please but there is always someone on hand if you need anything. It’s unlikely that we will need to stay in the area any time soon but if we do then we will have no hesitation in booking a room at the Cumberland Lodge. It wo.
It is quite stunning - I didn't believe that it was the b & b
and I knocked on the door to ask for directions! The owners are kind,
caring and thoughtful and whilst I was there on business I will return
for pleasure. The bedrooms are wonderful and it really was home from
home with lovely bedding and pillows and you only had to ask for
something and it was there! Cannot praise it highly enough and I have
stayed in a lot of hotels so I know a good one when I find one.
Far better than our expectation.The bedroom and interior are luxurious.Breakfast superb,host's could not be more helpful and friendly. V quiet location with stunning views of the fells. Ideal for visiting western Lakes and Cumbrian coast. Good eating in Pub at top of the drive or Whitehaven only minutes drive away.Would have no hesitation in recommending, and will look forward to returning ourselves.
It is very tempting to put people off but that would be selfish, so I will be honest.
The standard of this B&B is better than any I have been in.
If you want to live like a millionaire at a very reasonable price then this is the place to go.
It is spacious, sumptuous and luxurious, the food is excellent and George is a really pleasant host.

This is a truly stunning house to stay in. The room was perfect! If you are looking for a break from the usual prem' inns etc, I recommend you pay a visit here! The breakfast was the best I've had in a long while! I hope to return next time I'm working in area!.
House was finished to a high standard and staff were friendly and accommodating. Super views of the fells from the bedroom window. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. They deserve to do well and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Everything. Hospitality from George and Joan was excellent. We booked the suite which was fabulous. Large, clean with excellent views. Would definately recommend this to anyone. Must be one of the best B&B's in the country!!.
Very warm welcome from the owners , who even ran me to a local pub and collected me afterwards so I could eat, as the pub next door was closed. They also took me into Workington the next day for less than a taxi fare.

warm wecome , nothing is too much trouble for Joan and George ,the quality of the furnishings in the bedroom and bathroom all add to your stay being special A good hearty breakfast sets you up for the day.

Fantastic large house. Very clean and luxurious throughout. Very quiet with a superb night's sleep. Luxury and cleanliness with the most fantastic views of the mountains.
George and Joan were very friendly, tea and scones on arrival, could not do enough for us,very clean, breakfast excellent. you would have to give it 10 out of 10!.

There's nothing not to like.
Nothing really but in terms of improving perhaps a better sign and
better lighting at the entrance - difficult to negotiate in the dark and
the sat nav doesn't recognise it.
Would not be best location for Eastern Lakes or travel by public transport.
The red deer, unlike the pheasants, only appeared in the garden on one of our two mornings.
