The Feathers Hotel, situated in the centre of historic Woodstock on the doorstep of Blenheim Palace. Originally seven separate houses, the hotel boasts character and charm with antiques and log fires. Woodstock is one of England's most beautiful and famous country towns. Constructed largely from Cotswold stone, its buildings date from the 12th century. It is host to a wealth of interesting shops, restaurants and historical buildings - including the Oxfordshire County Museum. Situated only 8 miles from 'The Dreaming Spires' of the historic University of Oxford, on the edge of the spectacular Cotswolds and huddling next to the gates of Blenheim Palace - home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Woodstock has much to offer its visitors. Woodstock is just one hour's drive from London Heathrow, Birmingham and Cheltenham - Shakespeare's Stratford is a mere 45 minutes away. Due to the age of the building, there is no lift at the hotel.

The location was perfect being close to all the shops and pubs in Woodstock. Everything about the hotel was excellent, no complaints at all. We enjoyed the relaxed attitude of the staff. They made us feel that we could treat the hotel as our home.The room and ambiance. Breakfast was very good too. Beautiful room with very friendly staff. A loveley comfortable hotel.
all reviews » Got up late for breakfast, they called us to see if we wanted any breakfast. They ended up bringing toast and coffee up to the room. It was a nice touch.I enjoyed the general ambience. The staff were attentive without beingoverbearing. The breakfast menu was extremely varied. Breakfast and the parrot. Room was very comfortable.The hotel was very well situated in Woodstock, and our room was lovely. It had been very well furnished, in keeping with the age and character of the building, but providing all the comforts of a quality hotel. The fire in the reception area was welcoming, and the public rooms were comfortable. The food was absolutely wonderful, the staff were very pleasant. Wine list, food and staff. Centrality to Cotswolds. menu in bistro quite limited. I was unhappy about the parrot living in a cage in the reception area. I learned that he is never let out to fly around, and is kept permanently locked in his cage. I think this is inhumane, and he should be given more consideration and liberty. He was friendly, and I'm sure he is well fed and cared for, but it is cruel to keep a bird locked permanently in a fairly small cage.We thought that the room was expensive and not good value for money. My room was right on the top floor, which was accessed via a small winding staircase. The room was a little shabby and the bathroom a little dated. The shower over the bath was constantly dripping and kept me awake. I had stayed before, and the room last time was far superior than this one. There was no comfortable lounge or log fire and the room was small with only one easy chair. The evening menu at £46.00 plus drinks was expensive - we opted to eat at the Kings Arms opposite by the log fire. We were surprised to have 10% added to the total bill even though there was no turn down at night. I found the hotel to be expercive for the room i received. I paid for a Supior double but the room was small. There was a King bed in the room but the matress was made up of two single matresses. The bathroom was quite shabby with the false woodern floor in the bathroom becoming loose from the floor.

From London and m25 - Follow the m40 North and take Junction 9, follow a34 to Oxford and then a44 to Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. Turn left after traffic lights in Market Street, Woodstock. From the North - Follow M40 South and take Junction 11, follow signs for A36 1 and Chipping Norton. At Chipping Norton take A44 to Woodstock. In Woodstock go up the hill and take the first turn on the right. Mileage from major cities: Oxford 8 miles Birmingham 60 miles London 65 miles. By Rail: Inter-city from London Paddington to Oxford, 8 miles and occasionally Charlbury, 6 miles. Journey time approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
