Friendly staff!. the hotel is under new management and is undergoing refurbishment which is very badly needed especially the public rooms. my room had been refurbished; it was simply furnished with no frills but clean and comfortable. the hotel is in a good position with a great view of the harbour. the hotel should be reviewed when the changes are complete. Nice area, good view from room. Good daytime shopping. The breakfast. Very poor indeed. Not hot enough. Not fresh. Eggs were not free range. Also the hair dryer fused. No on site parking at this hotel but car parks are nearby. The shower room / toilets are small, but adequate. Broken balcony furniture, bad wiring and slightly scruffy decor. Unfortunately changed hands just before we arrived an d restaurant and Wi Fi not operating. No hotel parking, but not really an issue as there was a cheap long stay car park not too far away. Need to keep the windows open because of the summer heat, but if you go in the seagull fledging season take some earplugs - the gulls can be very loud early in the morning. Restaurant needs updating. restaurant needs face lift. Rooms and hotel generally are more than a little tired. Cleanliness not great especially in the bathroom. No Fans or Aircon available during heatwave. Seagulls in the early hours!!!!!!. breakfast was barely adequate with a very poor choice of cereals, no fresh fruit, boring sliced bread, rather greasy fried breakfast. i was told that there will be a new kitchen with better breakfast choices. why not improve breakfast now?. We arrived hungry only to be told that we were unable to have dinner at the hotel, that they only accomodated buses. We were advised to go to a pub nearby by the receiptionist, however they did not serve dinner. We finally found a place to eat about 3/4 mile away a tough uphill walk. Parking nearby if you're lucky but costs a fortune. Stated there was a restaurant but it was closed & had to walk a long way to another. Mattress very uncomfortable so put duvet on floor and slept there!.
