What people say
Everything was so great! We loved Ian and Anika. They did so many
special things to make our time in Wales very special. The breakfasts
were astonishing, the room totally charming with a lovely comfortable
bed and pastoral river view. We were close enough to walk to local pubs,
famous walks, Tintern Abbey. And within a short drive to many other
sights and experiences of Southern Wales.
beautiful position overlooking the river and right next to a great pub. very helpful hosts who gave us great directions for walks and let us borrow their guides + books. breakfast was out of this world. beautiful local produce, very creative with a choice of juices and cooked breakfasts that was beyond anything we've seen. well done and thank you for a fab stay!. all reviews »
Beautiful location, warm friendly staff, lovely room with a huge king size bed and river view. But the deal breaker was possibly the best breakfast we have ever eaten in a B&B of this size, in fact it beats alot of 5 star places aswell., with a choice to make anyone happy that was very impressive!.
This place was just unbelievable, we felt like spending the night on a manor. Our bed was monstrous and we had a lovely view of the river. Owner was very nice and helpfull, breakfast was the same thing as the room: we could have anything we thought about. By far the best accomodation on our trip.
The hosts, both go the extra mile and are down to earth and genuine. The place itself is genuine too. No pretension, not trying to be something it's not like a lot of places. Incredible location, breakfast to die for with imagination and creativity. People without soul need not apply.
We were made to feel so welcome by Anika and Ian. Our room was scrupulously clean and great value when you realise that it included the most amazing breakfast.
If you want a different kind of a break stop off here they really care about making sure you have a great stay.
Great location - watch the tidal river change direction! cosy room, with everything provided that we needed. Excellent locally sourced organic breakfast and waffle tasting was an added bonus. the hosts clearly work hard at what they achieve.
Such a warm welcome into a delightful property, views over the river are breathtaking and the breakfast was out of this world.
Rooms were very homely and the pubs either side are great for some food and drink- perfect break.
very friendly hosts,
arrived early do to change of plan hosts were very helpful and did not mind early arrival, clean comfortable room, excellant breakfast choice and excellant cooked breakfast.
The breakfast! It was in 'English Breakfast' style, but with variations from the regions of UK. I enjoyed the Scottish kippers. I've never encountered such culinary breakfast enthusiasm before.
We had an excellent stay. The room was comfortable and spacious, but the most outstanding thing about The Old Rectory was the hosts they were very accommodating and the breakfasts were amazing!.
Our hosts were very friendly, room was comfortable, breakfast was excellent with wonderful choice including local produce for a B&B. Lovely area and easy access to the walks we wanted to do.
very friendly staff. She even did our laundry for a small fee which was marvelous. Great breakfast and I liked that we could walk to Tintern Abbey easily. Great views of the hills and river.
Very quiet location, nice pubs and restaurants, lovely breakfast with home made bread, they also done evening meals, room was spacious and we had our own entrance, luxury bedding.
Everything was lovely. From the first contact with Anika through our delicious breakfast made by Ian we were very pleased. I especially appreciated the allergy-free room option!.
A lovely, old world, comfortable B&B. Anika's very comprehensive breakfast menus could not be bettered.
Anika and Ian were perfect hosts, ver friendly and helpful.

We particularly liked the comfort and easy going atmosphere that made the stay very relaxing. The breakfast was superb.
We loved the family accommodation - having 2 bedrooms and a large bathroom was excellent. Hosts are very welcoming.
The bed was large and comfortable and views of the river were great. The breakfast choices and quality of food.

#Comfort.
The only drawback, not so much for us, but perhaps for others, was
the steep walk and steps to the house and steps within the house.
It's part of the charm of this old rectory, but could cause
problems for some.
the room we had smelt a little bit damp and musty.
I liked it all!!!!.
Nothing - we had a great stay.
water pressure on electric shower not great (use to a power shower) but done the job.
Cars were not parked on the premisis, because it was too steep. They were parked across the road.
wifi not good in room, had to use lounge.
Up a hill a bit and the parking was tight (for a US visitor).
Quite steep and uneven steps to property.
Nothing.
Nothing really, parking across the road isn't the best but not really a factor.
We only stayed one night!.
Trying to negotiate the drive and steps leading to he front door in the pitch dark take a torch.
Our room was fairly small, with very low doors.
nothing.
Breakfast menu was confusing and then breakfast was quite plain and minimal!.
Nothing to possibly dislike .
Nothing.
There was nothing to complain about.
