We booked this hotel instead of the Spreadeagle in Thame, and were very glad that we did. It had been a long drive down and we were both tired, and once we had sorted out our choice of room at reception entered into Room 129, a fair walk but well worth it. A beautiful large room, with a big walk in shower and a large flat screen TV. The sheets were crisp and clean and after a snooze we tried out the restaurant. I had the bread, olives and hummus, and my partner the Goats cheese tartlet,.
all reviews » We had a very comfortable stay at the Oxfordshire. The staff were all friendly helpful and service good. The bed at the hotel was amazing so big and comfortable. The rooms are modern and cosy and were very clean! The food was very good service in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was a buffet style and was lovely really enjoyed it. The spa is also very nice - pool is book and sauna and steam both relaxing. Really nice hotel with wonderful golf course and close to Bicester village. Visited this hotel for a weekend break after a busy week. Staff were friendly and attentive. The spa was just what the wife was after and she enjoyed the treatments which were good value. The food was good value for money. We both had a great stay and were totally chilled by the time we left. Would visit it again. This is the second time we have used the Hotel. The first was for one night, but we vowed we would return. The rooms, facilities, service and general overall 'can do' attitude is excellent. The staff were very friendly and willing to please. Lovely décor and furnishings (obviously recently refurbished) and the staff were most helpful. Difficulty with room Internet. We changed rooms 3 times. I did not like on of the rooms decor - red was very gaudy, while the other 2 rooms had more restful colors. Poached eggs were over cooked at breakfast. That we had to leave!!!. Limited food selection after 6.30pm (i.e. we could not get a sandwich). Due to large corporate function the evening bar was closed to paying guests and the alternative bar did not serve full range of drinks. The small restaurant was slow in service(i.e. waited 40mins for cold dessert) and not particularly good value for money. Spa facilities rather disappointing compared to other "spa hotels". Dining room lacked a little atmosphere. Seemed rather "male" orientated during our visit, but perhaps this should be expected with golf connection. With a stroke of bad luck, a wedding reception meant the main bar was closed and because most of the guests were for the wedding, the restaurant and spa were empty and lacked a bit of atmosphere. Unfortunately the TV in the room was faulty - problem with signal. There were no treatments available on either day we were there which was disappointing given it is a spa hotel. The reception staff were not friendly or welcoming. The cafe was laid out like a service station although the food was nice. The staff in the spa were on their mobile phones when we went to down to use the facilities which I thought was rude. Nothing. The only thing I would say as a negative is that the restaurant mid week is very quiet and lacked atmosphere. so despite the food being absolutely excellent, but we chose to eat out on our second night for somewhere with a bit more ambience. View from the room - a wall!. Meals and beverages seemed a little over-priced. Nothing. Shower was not very poweful. Room smelt 'odd'. Some of breakfast staff need to at least smile. Had to ask 3 times for coffee and toast. Seemed to be random who got some. Waitress stretched across me to take my plate when I was drinking. nothing to dislike!. Breakfast - almost no selection. If you arrive at night you might struggle to find this place. Could do with more signposts and brighter lights. The choice of menu for vegetarians and vegans is rather limited but we did make a lovely meal with side orders which was more than adequate. Thin walls. My advance payment with letsbookhotel.com had not gone through at booking stage but I was only made aware at checkout. Breakfast ample but brick-hard bacon. Absence pf bathrobe promised on website (not that we cared much about that). My wife's evening meal which fell far short of expectations. The exterior of the Hotel was a little shabby, we nearly didn't go in. It is very isolated and it was really a golf club with an attatched Hotel rather than a Hotel with a golf club attached. We are not golfers. It was exceptionally quiet. Changing facilities could be a little more chic! However loved the GHDs.
