Friendly,helpful reception staff. convenience for our needs. in the restaurant they my husband ordered a southern fried chicken which was soggy and the salad came with dressing which put him off eating his meal we feel that the dressing should be sent out seperatley so you have the option to use it or not.when we have breakfast, the staff not clean the table yet and forget we have order the tea. I stayed in Room 23, which was excellent. I would however suggest two minor improvements: a) The provision of an easy chair would have been nice - I had to spend time either stretched out on the bed or in the bar... b) Provision of bath sheets as well as bath towels would have been welcomed.Although you could see the Hotel from the road I thought you needed a sign pointing out how to get to it. It would have been nice to have been able to get a sandwich up to ten o'clock at night and even after it. The lock on the bathroom door in room one was faulty. This was reported on Saturday morning and nothing done about it. Room lighting could be better.Room was too warm, so marked down on comfort. No hairdryer in the room. The shaver point could not be used as fitting set too far right to open cover. hair in bath. bed not too comfortable and pillows hard. Have written a separate letter outlining the problems encountered etc., this should be with you by today 15 April 2008 at Head Office.

Information about the area

Selby Abbey (1.5 km / 1 mile) - the 1st monastery to be founded in the North after the Norman Conquest and one of the few in England to have survived as a parish church. It is reputed to be the birthplace in September 1068 of King Henry I of England.

Selby Town Hall (1.6 km / 1 mile) - regarded as being one of the best live venues in the area (as officially recognised by winning the Yorkshire Evening Post's Nightlife Award), with regular performances of music, dance, drama and comedy.

Selby Golf Club (3.5 km / 2 miles) - an 18 hole par 71 'links-style' course, built on sandy soil and located just off the nearby A19.

Travelling information

From the M62:
- Exit at junction 34 and follow signs for Selby (A19) for around 5 miles.
- Proceed onto the A63 Selby Bypass for one Mile.
- At the roundabout turn left and left again after 300 yards.
- Follow the road to the hotel.
