It is a very unusual hotel! Run by a local authority which must be a very enlightened one. It is modern and has a wonderful atmosphere. There were lots of groups of children and adults enjoying the facilities both inside and out. The Bistro was very busy and deserved to be because the the staff were very attentive and friendly and the food was excellent. The view from the dining area made our stay special with stunning sunsets to accompany dinner and watersport activity to watch during bre.
all reviews » The staff were delightful -unfailingly helpful and friendly, Beds were comfortable and our room had a lovely view overlooking the lake. Bedrooms are huge and it was very quiet at night. We were attending a family event locally, but it is a good value for money base for exploring Liverpool, which is only a short train ride away, or for exploring up the Lancastrian coast,. Everything - especially the staff who were brilliant. They looked like they enjoyed working there and they were very busy. The room was large and clean. The breakfast was beautifully presented and of excellent quality. We ate a meal in the Bistro and can really recommend the food which was well priced. 10+++++++++. as a disabled person i found the facilities and bedrooms perfect . the bathroom and bedrooms are big and there is lots of rooms. The walk in showers are fantastic . The food and drinks are great , if you like something different its a must stay. Staff are very helpful and friendly all round a really good stay. Out of the City, but close enough to commute. HUGE rooms, and super-comfy bed and bed linen. Plenty of tea and coffee with biscuits. Also, the staff were super-friendly and helpful, but what do you expect,-this is Liverpool!!! Large car park. Easy access for disabled people, and all bedrooms geared for this. I booked to be close to the coast and the stay was ideal.The room was large and comfortable, it was quiet and the overall atmosphere was welcoming. There was a good choice for breakfest and the evening meal I had was good value and the service efficient and friendly. Will stay again. The staff. Friendly, helpful, efficient - couldn't fault any of them from reception to gym to restaurant. Also the food was lovely, good value and loads of it. Location was lovely, picturesque and quiet but only 10-15 minutes from the city centre. We will definitely be back. All the staff were exceptionally helpful, always friendly and enthusiastic. The rooms were good, the food second to none and great value. Finally what a location. Next to the marine lake, next to the beach and to the Anthony Gormley's statues - brilliant!. Stayed for 1 night due to family party near by, The beach near was excellent and ideal for walkers and runners,meals served by friendly staff was excellent.we will come again and bring family with young children as excellent activities for the young. location was good being on the lake and not far from beach where gormsley men are. good for people who like a walk, plenty of coastal routes etc. also not far from formby where we visited. food available was also ok and reasonable price. The staff were friendly which makes your stay even better the rooms were lean and very comfortable we were dreading staying in bunk beds but it was fine we as a couple would defiantly commend this accommodation. Every thing from A to Z liked . Because everything is designed to be fully accessible to wheelchair users (which is excellent), there are lots hard floor surfaces which magnifies small noises, so if you are a light sleeper, you might want to avoid rooms 1 -3 which have hard floors in the corridor outside. A bit of industrial noise from the Docks during the night,-but shutting the window tightly kept out most of the noise. There was a school trip staying when we were there and they were a bit noisy - the hotel staff were very apologetic and did try to address this. I would however check if there is a big party like that staying before booking next time. stayed in room 1 a radio playing very loud before 7am also banging doors coming from that area was so bad the mirrors on wall were shaking!!!, mentioned to reception she said room was near kitchen she would have a word with them so if you want a sleep in don't go in room 1. something hotel couldnt do much about.....which was the weather. wanted to sit out and have a drink or two overlooking lake but was restricted. Could not get WHBasin tap to run cold. Therefore could not get a drink of water. Whb too low for non-disabled. No Face Cloth. I don't understand question 3. Its none of those. Nothing. nothing specific. It was a bit hot in the rooms even with fan. Seemed to be a technical problem with tap in sink ( no cold water!) But staff helped with jugs of iced water and bottled mineral water. Still love the place!. Cokjed breakfast was cold...but lights weren't on over the food. Not much - Mixer tap on sink would not provide cold water. There was nothing we didn't like. Could be closer to transport links, but the hotel is right by the beach/lake and a cab to Liverpool Centre doesn't cost more than £10, which is not bad at all. I don't have any negative comments. There were no negatives would stay there again, but for more than one night. Lots to see and do!. Fully booked in restaurent the night we stayed however lots of places only a short walk away. Nothing. I had a room designed for wheel chair users, so sink low for able bodied, not enough space for toiletries epecially if in wheel chair as shelf above sink too high and it was tiny and I prefer bath. Minor point really. Lack of air conditioning. I could not find anything to criticise. Bathroom could have been cleaner. The fact that the normal prices for accommodation were displayed and it showed we had paid £50 more because it was Aintree week. This, coupled with the fact there was an event in the Bistro which meant we could not use this facility and were woken up by loud voices in early hours of morning. We had to clear our own breakfast plates, between courses ,only a minor point but not necessary. Driveway leading to the accommodation quite narrow. No gluten free items available at breakfast such as bread, hashbrowns, sausages or cereal. surprised no swimming or hot tubs for hotel users. Had to switch to a bunk room for one night as no availability in double or twin rooms. Rate charged per night was the same as for a double room and yet the facilities were not as nice. Sometimes it is a bit noisy when guests are leaving a party or wedding etc. Checking out ..... had the misfortune to stay at the Scarisbrick in Southport after pour great stay in Crosby. nothing. Furnishings a bit basic especially dining room. Need some outside seating Bathroom a little off putting as too much geared for disabled. Nothing to say.
