Was very favorably surprised, considering the price we paid we expected something a lot less. The Hotel is in very good order, a lot of refurbishment, new carpets, the rooms we had were immaculate, better than Premier Inn & Travel Lodge by a long chalk. As for the last review about thin walls, we stopped in two double rooms next to each other and I knocked the wall between the two to rouse my travelling companion and was not heard in the next room, so far from thin walls, and not sure about.

Plenty of parking and easy to get to Lovely atmosphere throughout. This was our second visit here. We use it as a base to explore the south downs and coast for birdwatching sites. The room had everything you would need for a short stay at a very good price. The beer and food are good and again very well priced. The hotel has a very green outlook, only supplying two towels and asking waste to be split so it can be recycled. We were given a very large room so that we could unpack our 4 x 4 with lots of belongings as we had travelled back from Spain. We were very grateful. Also the chef cooked us a breakfast on the day we left even though breakfast had officially finished - how nice is that!! The reception staff were very welcoming as were the rest of the staff. This was a great hotel. Male receptionist very nice gentleman and very helpful directing me to hotel over telephone. Very Clean and comfortable. Coffee and tea facilities you even get a pack of cookies too. Lots of hot water to have a bath as cold. Kitchen staff cooked a meal for my daughter even though the kitchen was closing. This is a lovely hotel for an overnight stopover (or longer if you are touring the area). The rooms, although ours was small, have everything you need for a good night's sleep with very comfortable beds.The bar and restaurant are nice and the food is not expensive. Try the carvery, it's very good! This hotel is a "find". Nice friendly welcome at the reception with a no fuss description of facilities and relevant timings for meals. Excellent dinner and breakfast choices and great value for money. Quiet location but front room may be noisier due to busy road. We had quiet, undisturbed night in one of the rooms external to the main hotel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was a good size and was clean and spotless, as was the bathroom. The food was good value for money and you weren't ripped off on drinks. You are in the middle of the countryside but Portsmouth and New Forest easily accessible We had a brilliant weekend stay. The cleanliness,comfort, modern and light décor. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast but unfortunately we couldn't stay for lunch or dinner to sample the tempting menu! Thanks for the proper hairdryer too - I never travel without mine as usually they are in the bathroom and not very good. Our room was very clean, warm and comfortable. A nice sized room compared with some other motor hotels. Excellant car parking facilites. Nice rural location with good access to Winchester etc and rural countryside. It was a very pleasant weekend break and very good value for money. Warm welcome on arrival, pleasant and helpful, room was clean and well presented, staff at bar and restaurant friendly and cheerful, food was to a good standard, and fresh fruit salad would be highly recommended as all fruit was fresh, no sign of tinned fruit, bed was comfortable. The staff are very friendly and help the room is clean and very comfortable, even tho same meets all the needs required. I would definately stay at at the angel again and the breakfast is amazing and freshly made for you which is a bonus enjoyed my stay. The room was very tidy and there was plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits. Although there was no air conditioning the room was cool. The shower was great. Our 21 month old boy slept well in the travel cot. All in all, we were happy with our stay. The room was lovely. It was nice having food and a bar available in the same location. In the bar, it was brilliant to see local real ales. Having a carvery and an a la carte was good as I was able to order a non-meat meal. Staff were lovely. Our room was at the back of the 'motel-type' accommodation and although the road and the car park can be quite busy, we were not disturbed by traffic noise, in fact it was VERY quiet. Our room was spotless with excellent, large bathroom. This was the second time we have stayed at the angel, and it is safe to say we will definitely be returning again. Lovely bar, fantastic carvery, friendly andhelpful staff, extremely comfortable bed! What more can we ask for?. Second time we've stayed here. Avery good value Hotel. Really must comment again about the Carvery buffet at £5-50 It really does take some beating. Plus it's own brewed on site 'Angel Ale' at £1.99. This is an excellent package!!. We arrived after 9pm and they had stopped serving food - but we were offered a sandwich. The room was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The room - larger than average, comfortable modern bed, large modern ensuite, snack tray with biscuits. Comfortable bar/lounge, evening carvery + limited supplementary menu. A nice hotel for a relaxing, quiet break. On the whole very pleased with the room thought it was value for the money added bonus was the reasonably priced restaurant, it didn't matter to us that we were in the annex and had to walk over to the restaurant. I liked the friendly staff on reception and the very helpful and pleasant bar staff. I had made a request for ground floor accommodation due to my disability and this was met without question. It was a cold evening and the lady on reception was very helpful and turn the heat up and got me an extra cover for the night but I didn't need it in the end as the room was lovely and warm :). Everything was ok, only 1 problem the floorboards are a bit creaky, and makes you worry you are making a noise for guests underneath. Nothing. Our room was generally clean, however, the carpet was showing the signs of wear and tear through use, especially at the door when entering the room directly from outside. Nothing. My SatNav indicated the location of the hotel but it was several miles further along the road. Not really a problem but could confuse some guests. Very limited menu in the Bar/Restaurant. This is easy to rectify. Would not prevent us from visiting again. Shower has to be observed if children present as sometimes either can be going from freezing cold to scolding hot if a lot of people using at the same time. nothing. The noise from the cars that zoomed past in the night wasn't too great. We would also have liked breakfast included in our stay although that was an option at £7.50 per person. It was a little expensive for us as we were on a tight budget. Breakfast was called "continental" but it's not. It was cereal and toast. "Continental breakfasts" have selections of breads, pastries, meats and cheeses, yoghurts and fruit which there wasn't. It should be called something like "basic breakfast" but don't call it "continental". Happy with everything we encountered. If you are a light sleeper, you may find the noise from the road wakes you from around 630, but you can request a room at the back of the hotel, or take earplugs!. anything. If there was one gripe it would be that the sloping ceiling above the bath/shower was awkward - we are not tall but we did bump our heads on the slope on entering the shower this also limited the height of the shower head. This is not a complaint just an observation. nothing. First thing which I did not like it was the lack of wardrobe. Just place with hangers where you can hang your jackets is not enough. I had to put my clothes on the armchairs and on the floor. The same situation is in the bathroom, there is no place for 2 adults to put all cosmetics, brushes etc. This was the only thing I disliked. Not much. There was a bit of a noisy wedding reception in progress, but our room was well away from it, and we didn't hear anything. The Sat Nav didn't couldn't locate the hotel either, but that wasn't their fault - a quick call en route quickly put us on the right road. Minor niggle, but wi-fi very slow. The mattress was very soft and I could feel every spring. Quite a distance from towns but other than that all was good. no complaints at all !. Minor niggle: trouble with the toaster at breakfast. i stayed in room 212 although service was excellent my spring mattress had probably seen better days as it was uncomfortable for myself and fiance. also there was sound transfere from the lounge below.. tv and people chatting. it wasnt enough to spoil my stay but think it worth bringing to your attention. nothing. A bit out of the way but no real problems. would have liked to have seen a better selection, and perhaps fresh muffins and pastries for the continental breakfast option, with tea and coffe on the side to help yourself rather than having to order it. Ironing boards a safety risk for young children, needs a clip etc, to stop a child pulling it over. Carvery food not very hot on Saturday evening at 7pm . Breakfast needs needs more fruit options, not as good as last year. Breakfast: I would have liked to see scrambled as well as fried eggs on the menu. I would also suggest the toast comes from the kitchen rather than toasting your own. If that is not possible instructions on how to use the toaster would be helpful. Otherwise we enjoyed the breakfasts. We would also have liked some face towels in the room rather than having to ask for them at reception. As mature guests = high sided bath as acess to shower. No grab handle on wall and no rubber mat. Gosport Rd Alton a misleading address as the hotel is at least five miles out on the A32 - so better directions would help. Would prefer lower cost!. Could hear traffic in the rooms at the front of the hotel although this did not bother us, it may be a problem for light sleepers. Could only get a room for one night as it was a sell-out over the week- end. bathroom very narrow, so get your toilet roll off the holder before you sit down unless you can do acrobatics :). There was nothing not to like. the wind and rain not the hotels fault. No particular dislikes. Slightly expensive full English breakfast, £6 would be more like it, not £7.50. sound coming from other rooms.
