Clean spacious room, all facilities, interested staff, excellent dining. Room excellent. Food very good.It was a quiet friendly relaxed atmosphere which is exactly what we were looking for. The room was spacious warm and imaculate. The bathroom was also very clean and the water extremely hot which was fabulous. The food in the restaurant was extremely good. Much better that I have experienced in similar grade hotels. The dinner we had in the evening was the best we have tasted in quite some time. superb setting, very peacefull. The setting was lovely and perfect for our needs, the food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff very good and attentive. I liked the size of the room and also the presentation of the hotel. Excellent food, very friendly staff. The service was great. food. The hotal was spacious and inviting. Rooms were nicely decorated, especially liked the bathroom and shower facilities.Friendly helpful attitude of the staff. Good food and location. made to feel welcome. Comfortable room and friendly staff. Location of hotel is also good.It reminded us of Fawlty Towers !!! The service was really slow !!!. Suited the function I was attending.location, nice character hotel. Good size room. resturant. good location.... peaceful ...comfortable reception areas...lovely grounds. location. could hear people walking around in the corridor and room above. needs a bit of sound proofing...Felt although the hotel was lovely it was a little on the expensive side for the initial nights stay and then food was pricey which ment we ended up going out for food and drinks which was what we didnt want to have to do. Id have liked to just stay at the hotel and relax and get everything we needed for the duration of our stay but I would definately go back. Main reception decor a little tired, but the staff and food made up for that. The room was quite small although ok but I felt the bath room was just too small with nowhere to put any toiletries, the shower was also very small with nowhere to put any toiletries. I didn't like the fact that there was scaffolding up around the front of the hotel, knew nothing of it before arrival and it detracted from the look of the hotel.Sound proofing not very good. There was no Sky TV and the remote didn't work properly. That was all though. The hotel door was locked at midnight, however there was a number for the night porter. However he had no reception on his phone and we were standing outside trying to get in for 30/45 mins. Pillows were very hard and there were no alternative options in the room. Our room was very cramped and it was too warm (the window did not open). Having a separate charge of £15 per person for breakfast is maybe a bit steep? We would've been £30 for the two of us! That's why we didn't have breakfast in the hotel.Slowness of service in the bar. Quite noisy in the morning, thin walls and creeky floorboards; meals expensive. The lighting was extremely poor. The brightness of the reading lights was very dull making it difficult to read in bed, The power rating of the bulbs needs to be increases. The wall mounted lamps were of a very low power rating, again making the room dark, Both the wall mounted lamps the both bulbs were not working because they were not fitted into there bayonet fittings corectly. I had to fit the. wifi didnt work. Initial impression at reception .... did improve as stay progressed...room needed a refurb...scuff marks ....chips etc cleaning needed more attention to detail. staff lack of care and concern, both at reception ands in the dining room where sloppy dress prevailed. Well below four star standard and price. Check-out reception much better than previous day.
