What people say
Warm welcome from the owners, nice clean room, excellent breakfast, perfect location for exploring the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley, South Wales, lots of nature reserves within a stones throw we where lucky enough to see two families of wild boar in the RSPB reserve next door. I would highly recommend a stay at Edale House if your planning a trip to this part of the country either for a holiday or just an over nighter, I really can not fault it!. all reviews »
Super enormous comfy bed, tea/coffee making facilities inc. biscuits and sweets! Fabulous breakfasts - tasty juice, fresh strawberries, raspberries, huge blueberries and lovely creamy yoghurt. The full breakfast looked good but I had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, yummy! Lots of info in the sitting room and a very handy help yourself bar.
The room was beautifully decorated with lots of lovely extra details. The honesty bar is an excellent idea. Terry and Jane were very friendly and fantastically thoughtful and helpful. Breakfasts superb! The location was perfect for our visit to family but would also work well for those wishing to walk in and explore the Forest of Dean.
The owners were very flexible about our arrival time and gave us coffee and cake when we got there. We had to arrive before our room was ready to get ready for a wedding and they accommodated us. Next morning, really helpful printing off a walk route for us. Lovely couple, fab firm beds, very clean.
Very friendly people and lovely dog. Excellent service including hot breakfast, even with a village power cut!! Room very comfortable and warm. Extra blanket and hot water bottle in room if needed. Delightful room so clean and warm. Fantastic welcome and lovely food.eggs from own chickens :).
After a long day it was refreshing being greeted with tea and cake and a friendly welcome. Comfy room with thoughtful touches and a quality bed. Breakfast was excellent high quality local ingredients, delicious. Will definitely stay again. Very relaxing.
Clean. Thoughtful extras and good quality tea etc in room. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Very tasteful decor. For my next visit knowing there is cycle storage and wet (boot)room available. Good location for walking, cycling.
Edale was almost the perfect place to stay. The room was spotlessly clean and there were some nice little extras in our room and bathroom. Terry and his wife were very friendly, helpful and hospitable and the breakfast was simply superb!.
The Super King bed and all the little extras provided in the room. Appreciated the sitting room for clients and the 'on trust' bar facilities + use of land line telephone as there was no mobile reception there.
There was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was nice, the owners were very accommodating, the room was good. It was just right for my purposes - somewhere to sleep following a wedding reception.
The Owner, Terry, couldn't have done more to make our stay very enjoyable. Good recommendation for evening meal, and arranged breakfast for us even though we had a very early start.
The initial welcome from Terry and Jane, including the home made cakes
and welcoming cuppa! Nice large and comfortable room; the breakfast was
exceptional.

The owners
The excellent breakfasts.
everything.
Noisy Saniflo system in bathroom and lack of mobile phone reception might bother some.
Nothing!.
Nothing.
Not having time to stay longer.
The fact that we could not open a window and that the room and bathroom was quite small. (I think this was because we had the last of the five available.) The result was that we didn't sleep so well. If we had been staying any longer I would have mentioned this to Terry and I'm sure he would have sorted it out.

Nothing really, except wifi was a bit hit and miss.
I can't think of anything there is not to like.
Everything was excellent with accommodation and visit. Shame unable to use mobile phone as no signal in village. But owner happily offered use of their landline and internet.
would have liked somewhere more central but that was our fault as didit research properly!.
Maybe should have bit of background music in lounge and dining room.

nothing to dislike.
Absolutely nothing to dislike.
We did not realise that my uncle's room was not en-suite and he had to cross the corridor to reach his wet room. Aged 78 he was too nervous to use the wet room, as he was concerned that he might slip on the tiles.
difficult to find on ones first visit to the area.
Shower cubicles were on the small size.
nothing.
