The Regent Hotel is prominently situated at the head of Oban's north pier and is close to the main shops. It is also ideal for those who wish to take a steamer cruise or ferry to one of the many islands. The Regent, externally, is a combination of a Victorian private hotel with an almost perfect example of 1930's Art Deco design. Internally both buildings merge to provide an open and airy ambience with an array of well positioned public foyers and lounges. As a town centre hotel the Regent cannot offer private parking although there is ample on-street parking on the adjacent pier. This 'disadvantage' does however mean that Oban's many shops, the distillery, the ferry terminals and stations are all within easy walking distance.

friendly and efficient, pleasant stay. although the hotel is a big old place the rooms were extremely clean the beds very comfortable, we didnt get a chance to eat breakfast as we awere leaving on the 6.15 ferry but was offered continental breakfast instead. excellent value for money and I wouldnt hesitate to stay there again. The breakfast was excellent with a suberb choice and we also had our dinner which again was excellent.

Friendly staff and efficient replacement of light bulb in bathroom when requested. Position in Oban. we came in late at night and it was not long before we got to bed, therefore we did not have to much to do in the hotel itself, the staff were helpfull and the breakfast was very good.being able to sit out in front of the hotel and have a drink overlooking the sea. Very friendly, quick and helpful staff. Check in took only a couple of minutes. Close to town center. Oban. took dogs,easy access to Mull ferry. location, surroundings. the good breakfast. central location. nice shower, comfortable bed, friendly receptionist. hospitality tray. Location. Location. Breakfast was good and staff friendly and helpful.central location. having said all the above I would only use as a stop over. We were unable to have a bath as the water was running brown and had brown and black bits running through the tap. The shower however was excellent. Lift too small, not operating efficiently. Press button for floor and lift would go down instead of up.breakfast was not that big. the mattress on bed dreadful could not sleep shame as the rest was so good .A topper or new mattress would have made it perfect.I also think something should be done re disabled access.Shower difficult to operate. Breakfast seemed a bit chaotic in the morning and took a while before we were even asked what we wanted for breakfast.Hotel fine but slightly annoyed to see hotel offered at a cheaper price in daily newspaper after booking. The shower was old and impossible to turn off and nobody answered the reception phone!. lack of parking. Did not take note of all detail in the reservation done on-line. I.E.forgot to provide extra bed for child. entrance area and atmosphere more pub like than we had expected from website. Coach parties and the breakfast was poor-lack of choice and limited quantity. The shabby carpet in the reception areas and the smell of smoke in the bedroom. no parking facilities, fire alarm sounded at 12.30 am for no reason and also three times at approx. 8.30am. bedroom windows running with condensation .Attitude of one member of restuarant staff, made us feel we were an inconvenience. poor decor, bar a bit slow. breakfast, the bed. The bathroom felt grubby and was in need of a complete refurbishment.Bed was very uncomfortable and there was noise for a large part throughout the night. Being met by a bucket in the hallway for collecting leaking rain water was quite "Fawlty Towers". Disrupted sleep as the sash window in my room rattled all night with the wind. Shower was awkward to use and had black mould on tap and curtain. Cheap - but still would have expected better.Poor breakfast and hotel is quite run down.
