I was very suprised when I was shown around my room or rooms as it turned out. From the Kitchen, living room, the 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The cottage was spotless and well maintained. I was leaving for work early both mornings so wouldn't have made breakfast, however Pippa delivered bread, milk, cereal and orange juice for me to have breakfast in my cottage. The kitchen is fully equiped with tea and coffee, so making a brew is easy. The location is quite and peaceful with very little nois. all reviews »
Such a nice change from a hotel room. A lovely little 2 bedroomed cottage with a lounge and kitchen with all the facilities for self catering. However, I didn't self cater! I had an excellent home made dinner in the pub with a good pint (or 3) and wine.
Breakfast is served in your cottage and it was superb.
Would love to stay here again but I've just had my area changed with my job so...
Anyway, all in all, a lovely place to stay, thanks to the owners for being so nice and friendly.
Cosy, comfortable, clean cottage. Very friendly and helpful staff. Full English breakfast and toast delivered to the cottage every morning (cereal also available). The Poachers Inn itself does FANTASTIC steaks. Cottage itself has kettle and toaster (no cooker) and washing machine Metheringham is a nice village with some good walks and also has good public transport links (bus and train) to Lincoln Monday-Saturday but nothing on Sundays.
This was one of the best B&Bs I've stayed in and is excellent value for money. If you have a car and are visiting Lincoln, or just want to relax in a quiet village, this is the place for you. An excellent breakfast was served in the cottage itself. I'm thinking up good excuses to return and will do, for sure.
Everyone was really really friendly. The cottage we stayed in, was
lovely and clean and comfortable. We had an evening meal in the Inn
which was really scrummy and excellent value for money! We were made
aware that we only had to call for immediate attention, but left to
enjoy out stay.
For the independent traveller an excellent base. I was well looked after and essentially had a cottage all to myself which was very comfortable. The food was excellent quality by a top chef. Beer well looked after. An excellent business trip and would stay again when back in the area.
Very friendly place, the accommodation is excellent value and the food in the bar was very tasty and good value.
I had to be up early so I missed breakfast but the landlady put bread, jams, cereals etc in the cottage.
Definetly would stay again if I was in the area.
Pippa (the landlady) was friendly, attentive and very helpful ... throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, from the delicious evening meal to the excellent breakfast served in our accommodation. All in all, fantastic value and recommended without caveat!.
The cottage was warm and cosy. The provision of lots of tea and coffee along with milk as a welcome was really nice. The cooked breakfast in the morning was delivered on time and was enjoyed in the cottage. lovely place to rest while in the lincoln area.
Friendly and welcoming
Private cottage yet close to all amenities
Wonderful selection of food and good portions in the restaurant
Lovely breakfast brought to the cottage at a time to suit us was a really nice touch
Car parking right outside the cottage.
Mark and Pippa were excellent hosts and the cottages were great, secure parking, close enough to the village center for shopping and far enough away to be really quiet.
I will definitely be staying here again if I am in the area.

The welcome and food was good. Pippa brought me breakfast in the cottage earlier than most hotels are willing to for which I was grateful.

Location and breakfast and staff.
Breakfast delivered to the door.
Lots of room, fantastic price.
Friendly unobtrusive staff.
I do like to watch TV in bed to relax, so maybe a TV upstairs.
Just one minor point. I'm sensitive to chemicals and the washing powder used on the bed linen and towels leaves a strong chemical smell. A milder, more diluted variety would be preferred, such as the Persil Non-Bio Tablets we use at home.
Underfloor heating could have been a little warmer.
If anything the underfloor heating maybe could have been turned up a notch as the bedroom was a little chilly at this time of the year.
not much choice in village as to pubs serving meal. unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the hotel restaurant on this occasion.
There was nothing that I disliked. Have travelled extensively across the US, Canda, Europe, this must be one of the best/.
Pub lacked range of real ale, only Bombardier, although staff suggested another pub The Lonsdale round the corner which specialised in real ale.
leaving.
No real ale! Negative point these days!.
Hard to find any dislikes, bed was very soft.
