While we were in the modern section of the hotel our room was generous, furnished to a high standard and had a splendid river view. We had possibly the nicest haddock and chips ever cooked (no, really) and a lovely evening by the river watching the sunset. Staff are very friendly and the Maryculter House Hotel is highly recommended. Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Bar meal service friendly and efficient.all reviews »
The room was superb! very nice indeed!. The room. Fabulous country location and lovely views. The people who have complained on the site about the extension were a bit harsh - it is inkeeping with the style of the original house. Very impressed with the hotel's eco-friendly policy. View of the River Dee from the room was a wonderful surprise. The mushrooms were cooked in oil and massive and the beans were runny. The toast was very thin bread. Main restaurant was booked for private function the night I stayed.Modem cable in the room was too short and was not near a plugsocket which left me trying to work with my lapto balenced on theedge of the bed. not a wide menu selection vin evenings. Yes - bar meal was not good value. The fish was burnt. Also we found the bar area cold as there was a draught at the window. costs more to book the hotel. The staff were unhelpful. We were moved around so much doe to weddings that were on that weekend. The staff weren't pro active in the least and we had to ask for everything from the time breakfast was served to asking for a menu. We were on our honeymoon and rather be treated well, we were treated as if we were a nuisance. Location from Aberdeen, the food was dreadful and the sevice very poor. gloomy decor, lots of areas well past their best, unrefurbished rooms were particularly grim, we had to leave our deluxe room because there was a nasty smell but they weren't all that great either and it had a minuscule shower en suite. Poor breakfast, would expect hot breakfast to be cooked to order at these prices, not buffet where bacon and eggs are left sitting for ages.

Situated on the banks of the famous River Dee, this collation of buildings is steeped in Scottish history. Dating back to the 12th century, clearly documented through King John, Bonnie Prince Charlie and even the Titanic disaster, this was at one time the homeland of the Knights Templar, who gave pilgrims protected passage on their way to the Holy Land.
The house became a hotel shortly after World War II and has been undergoing a programme of refurbishment since then, which has brought it to the quality standards of today.

Dine in either of our quality restaurants, serving only the finest of Scottish produce, cooked and presented by a dedicated, professional kitchen brigade. Check-in time is 15:00 so if you are arriving at the hotel prior to this, they cannot guarantee that your room will be ready for you. The hotel offers 22 spacious en suite superior bedrooms, each having been individually decorated in keeping with this historic and elegant style of the hotel, also offer modern conveniences. These include an LCD flat screen TV (with freeview channels) and all common facilities. The en suite bathrooms have complimentary toiletries. Large fluffy towels and bath robes available on request.
There are 12 deluxe rooms and 6 junior suites. The deluxe rooms have been individually designed with the comfort of our guests in mind, but also keeping in touch with the hotels historic past. These spacious deluxe rooms and junior suites all have queen-size beds. They have the same facilities as above, and deluxe bathrooms with individual shower cubicle and all toiletries. The views from superior and deluxe rooms take in the natural beauty of Royal Deeside, overlooking the picturesque River Dee and surrounding countryside.
