In area with work, second time have stayed here now, perfectly located both for Irlam and Warrington. Reception staff are welcoming and efficient. This time, even a small mix up with double booking sorted out perfectly. The suite that I was in was a great size, comfortable and well stocked with enough for a short trip. Breakfast is just quality, icing on the cake. Great selection but the best is the full English with delightful locally resourced sausages. Could not recommend this place enough.
all reviews » Rooms were lovely, spacious and really comfortable and had hot drink making facilities. We were there for a wedding and the setting is beautiful. Even in this horrible cold, snowy weather the gardens were really well kept. After the bar closed we were allowed to sit in the lounge area and talk so bar staff also great! I'd love to go here again. We came up for the Manchester United v Real Madrid game and this was the best value hotel we found at short notice. They were still open at 1 A.M. when we checked in and opened early for breakfast. We would have liked to have stayed long enough to sample the grounds but excellent value for money. Everything. A family-run hotel in the best possible way - friendly, ultra-hospitable, efficient, excellent food & service, comfortable, lovely grounds. All anyone could want to achieve a relaxing stay. Outstanding. Would very happily stay there again and again. Bar meal and breakfast very good. Friendly service, pleasant, comfortable surroundings. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and went beyond what you would expect - in that the night manager arranged for one of the other staff members to personally pick me and my wife up, when we couldn't get a taxi. Bedroom and bathroom were spotless - bathroom was very modern and looked very new. Bedroom was overlooking garden which was very pleasant. Wall-mounted flat screen TV. A beautiful hotel with well-equipped rooms beautifully furnished and decorated. Food excellent and hotel grounds well-maintained with comfortable outdoor seating. Trying hard to think, nothing really and the only bad thing was a taxi from the hotel to Lymm where the driver must have just read the 'non-etiquette' book to taxi driving before picking up and depositing us!!. A little far out if visiting Manchester, £30 to town by taxi, but that was our issue not the hotel's!. The only thing I missed was a towel rail by the bathroom sink!. One small shelf in bathroom with nowhere to put remainder of toiletries etc. When going to bed it was difficult to fold and find space for the heavy over bed-cover plus two big cushions and extra pillows. Everything fine. Nothing. Some rooms could do with a little updating. Menu a little limited, practically no vegetarian options. Menu could be a little more exciting for vegetarians. There are only bar meals available weekday evenings (restaurant is shut), but the bar is big and welcoming, so it's no problem and the meals are very good. A little more room would have been good, but realise restrictions of space. An extra shelf in the bathroom would have been useful and room socket near mirror for use of own hotbrush.John has mentioned litter bins!. That we had to leave!. The dinner was poor - but there was a big wedding taking place. Wasn't advertised as a dinner dance when booking. Fixed shower head in bath. Lack of grapefruit or orange segments at breakfast. Food choice was a little limited but we did arrive at the end of the evening. It was served hot and there was plenty. We went for a wedding reception and I was very disappointed with both the content and the presentation of the food the Hotel provided. I know how much per head was charged and frankly what was offered for this was daylight robbery I do intend to contact the hotel directly over this -- as I understand all the other guests I spoke to were equally disgusted by the standard of food served. Not having the preserves on the breakfast table. rooms could do with a little updating, expensive bar. Restaurant not open; had to eat in bar, though that was very pleasant. Having to go outside to go from my room to bar or reception. Nothing serious. Nothing. Nothing. reception staff a little casual. presentation of food could be better. I'd asked for a quiet room, but got one on the car park. The curtain and blind combination just didn't work and the room was light from 4am. They had put an unpleasant plastic under-mattress on the bed which crinkled when you moved, which makes you wonder who normally stays there. Management somewhat set in their ways. E.G. Door to ensuite bath room would not close. It requires carpenter to refit the door this indicates lack of quality management systyems. Ask about non existent avis agency that is on avis site but does not exist. They know about it and late newspaper delivery but all too hard to fix. Devil in the detail not understood. The two waitresses serving breakfast were surly, inattentive and obviously hate their jobs. One of them used a menu to scrape crumbs off my table, then put the menu back on the table ! I had to ask to be served and place my food order, despite being one of only six men in the room. The Byron suite needs a new bed very uncomfortable. The staff at Reception weren't overly friendly. In fact when we checked in felt the chap helping was very off hand, just pointing in vague direction of bedrooms. Would have been nice if he asked if we needed any help with our bags for example. M6 motorway noise Lay- out is confusing. Noise coming from machinery / equipment next to room - very disturbing. Room no. 8. Poor shower. The initial response when reported to member of staff - automatic "I'll report it my manager, nothing to do with me" attitude. Didn't offer any sympathy nor to look into any compensation. Only followed up because I said I wasn't prepared to pay full room fee. Hotel did adjust the bill but I felt they were already well aware room was sub-standard.

- Turn left into Warrington Road (sign for Statham Lodge on corner).
- Continue along Warrington Road under the M6 viaduct.
