Being a smaller venue makes one feel more valued as a customer. Our rooms were very well appointed and on arrival, I had been upgraded to a larger one. All the staff were helpful and friendly. I particularly liked the efficient breakfast service as we needed to be out early. We had no difficulties hailing taxis. Neither did we encounter any difficulties with the left-luggage facility. The hotel was clean, comfortable and stylish. The staff were exceptionally helpful and efficient. Of particular interest to me was the fact that there were plenty of pillows on the bed and included one really soft one. A good bed and soft clean bedding is one of the main components for a good night sleep and, after all, that is what I booked the room for.

The gentleman in the reception at Sheftesbury was very nice, polite and helpful--should be congratulated for this please. Rquested room with full bath, however received room with shower only.The room was a little small but it was fine for me. Bad coffee in the reception area.Only breakfast is available - no evening meals or room service. Room in basement. the coffee at breakfast is not very good. I was woken up at 0030 by room service knocking on my door. Sadly I hadn't ordered anything and was asleep at the time.Not the greatest breakfast, smallish rooms. My room was tiny!. Very small room (club room). We had to slam the door to our room for it to shut.Although I was upgraded to a club room (and thank you for that), differently from some other Shaftesbury hotels, there were for example no fruits, bathrobe and slippers in the room. the rooms in this hotel is smallbut. The safe in the room did not work, though the staff very quickly replaced it within 10 minutes, neither of the safes were attached to a wall. The towel rails in the bathroom had come away from the wall. After 3 days they were still not fixed even though the towels were replaced each day. On the first night the TV did not work.....all minor points but the details count!. My room was next to the lift shaft and the hydraulic lift motor, although not particularly noisy, kept me awake during the night. The hotel name is Metropolis Hyde Park this should more accurately be Metropolis Paddington. just a bit too small. The window view was the interior court, full with pipes, not a nice view at all. The wireless network didn't work in the room, neither did in the lobby. I had to use the two computers in the lobby, with occasional waiting times, as the other guests used them as well.no fridge. Checking in was a slight problem as staff didnt listen to me properly.Breakfirst not included. Very small room. Small room but acceptable. The room was advertised as a double room, which I feel is a misconception. It just had a double bed in it, which filled the entire room, not even leaving enough space to open luggage.On the website it said there was parking facilities, howeverthere was not.
