I liked the fact that it was nice and quiet and the staff kept their distance unless needed. It was a lovely place to relax after a hectic day being a tourist. The rooms were spotless and the tea and coffee were well stocked in the rooms at all times. Excellent Location! Cafetiere in the room. Good maid service daily. I thought breakfast was a bit pricey...12 pounds. That is equivalent to 24 canadian dollars. But, I managed to think of other more affordable options. I am just a simple Canadian doctor...even worse..from Quebec where we earn 40% less than other Canadian MD's so this is relevant. I came to do a short course in the London School of Tropical Medicine which was fantastic but on my dime!. They don't have any lift. there are 2 Montague Places in London, one with and e and one without, the taxi drivers automatically take you to the wrong one and some did not even know where the right one was. The ambient temperature of the room was a little warm but the air con soon sorted that out, and it was a slightly hotter day than previous ones. The hotel has no lift - I didn't expect one, the building is two lovely georgian houses linked together - but if you are old or infirm check that you can have a room you can get to without too many stairs.The shampoo. Biscuits with tea/coffee would have been even better!. Not the hotel's fault so much - but on two occasions taxi drivers could not find it - and took me to the wrong one. Almost too discreet! You could get some noise from guests adjacent and above. Room was not ready on arrival, however we recieved free champagne to compensate.A little bit of a walk to the nearest tube stop. Bar fridge hadn't been cleaned, and so had dried milk stains inside; kettle had been marked as "faulty" but not replaced. Bfast not being included. - location was slightly further away from Tube than we had hoped. Staff seemed young and had limited english and although were efficient- the hotel didn't have much atmosphere. The continental breakfast was very limited in choice. I am a breakfast lover but struggled to find something I liked and thought it was overpriced. My only critism would be that the room was very small and very near the room next door (there seemed to be an interconnecting door) and therefore the soundproofing was dreadful. At times it felt like we were sharing a room with next door.No lift. The room was on the lower ground floor, rather dark and not the best position for a lone female traveller. It was marginally irritating that the lady checking in before me got a better rate and breakfast included!. The TV reception was bad - Only few channels available. We were on the third floor and there are no lifts in the hotel - fortunately we didn't have too much luggage. Hotel staff weren't that friendly and when we arrived there were no clean bath towels - we had to wait 1 hour for these.Would have preferred not to be in the basement but it wasn't really a problem. Staff spoke and understood english poorly (Spanish, mostly). Breakfast is expensive and is cold, no fried eggs,...Noisy.technical standard of air condition. small bathroom although nicely appointed.Furniture beginning to look a little shabby in our room. with dings and water marks.some service stuff a bit green, room service is outsourced to deliverance and on 1 occasion brought up by the delivery chap, not the receptionist, hence no utensils (fork/knife). was ok on other occasions. also, on 2 days the room wasn't cleaned before 12pm, and as the room was used from 2pm-5pm it was not refreshed at all that day. prices have gone up recently - relatively expensive now. Lack of eleveator,60 stairs to go to the room!. when ask to book a taxi, they booked one with no rate meter and taxi over charged us by a lot. No lift, the temperature was very warm, and it was out of the way and hard to find.
