Each room is sympathetically restored in keeping with the historic character of the buildings. Rooms are split between 2 buildings: a Georgian town house above the wine bar and an older, timber-framed building. The wine bar at Gales has fresh, home-cooked food and an extensive wine list.

This very old pub is in the centre of town, and the hosts are very helpful and friendly. I was upgraded to the top room in the building because it was Sunday and the lounge was closed on that day, so if you are looking for an extra large room, that was it, as it had a large bedroom, double bed, entry hall and large separate lounge room. I loved Llangollen and walked the 5mi along the canal to the aqueduct. The pub has private free parking.

Gales is centrally located in the town of Llangollen, which is incredibly charming, with plenty of opportunities for hiking nearby. Great overall experience. My room was nice and quiet, the bathroom cleanliness was ok, it could have been better and a newer mattress would have been more restful. Would stay again. Everything about the place is great. I have not stayed in a bigger room in a B&B for a long time. It was very comfortable with ample easy chairs to rest and watch TV in. Their restaurant is very good and reasonably priced for the quality of food and wine seved. Highly recommended. Very mean breakfast, if you wanted something cooked it was an extra £5 each. Shower could be more powerful and would have been nice to have bottles or a jug of drinking of water in the room. Cold room - needing some TLC. Shower bathroom old fittings. I can forgive the sloping floors in the bedroom as hotel built in 1775 but the curtains do need to be fixed back onto the railings. Shower area could do with a clean up. Continental breakfast very disappointing. No croissants or bread (toast available), a few brown bananas, few rather sour grapes. Very lacklustre & out of keeping with the accommodation. Picnickers leaving rubbish on rocks in the middle of the river. Basic breakfast. nothing really. Parking is a nightmare. No lounge area. Wifi not covering all rooms. Nothing.
