  I like the artsy, contemporary feel of the whole hotel - it feels like an understated and less visually disoriented W Hotel full of wonder, fun and craftiness. The bathroom was clean - typical Victorian style but with a modern touch. Staff, warm and cheerful. I like the idea that there was - The extremely courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiatic staff, made me feel happy and totally welcome from the moment that I arrived at the Ampersand, until the minute that I climbed into my taxi for the airport. Such an experience was like the first meeting and leaving of distant relatives. My husband and I have traveled extensively and we visit London every 2 years. Although I booked a standard double at a very deep discounted rate (typically this means getting the box room next to the staff quarters), I was given an apartment room which was really a suite.   We loved the size of the rooms and the fact that it was a suite set up, as this made it easy for our young son to go to bed before us.
