The staff are very friendly and helpful. The manager loaned me a mobile phone for a few days because the phone in our room was not working which was a nice compensation for not having a phone working in the room. Pub meal and continental breakfasts very good and adquate. Location near station (one min) useful shops a few seconds away large bathroom bathtub hot water tea and coffee in room pub facilities for food was able to get a much appreciated early check-in unlike some reviewers, didn't hear any noise and got a good night's sleep.

Would especially like to mention the two housekeepers Christine and Ronni (hope that's how she spells it!) they were both very caring and kind.Excellent service all round. The hotel was situated next to an underground station (Hornchurch), which was important for us. All members of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent continental breakfast. The ancient house looks picturesque. We enjoyed our time in this hotel. Clean bedding, hot water, a clean room, friendly staff - that was all we needed, and they have it all. We like this place and will return if we have another trip to London. The hotel is very homelike. There is conscientious staff, especially the maids. 1 minute walk from the undeground station. The hotel have a wonderful pub is very popular with guests and locals alike. The hotel was in a good location for getting around. Room a bit small - kept banging my leg on the tiny space between bed and tv table/chest took 5 mins with luggage to locate entrance to hotel part as rest locked no soap - only soap dispenser high up on wall, so difficult to manoeuvre getting soap when in bath towels a bit small. Can't think of anything. The shower didn't have enough power. Everything was ok, there was nothing to complain about. Initial entry into a crowded pub to check in. Separate check in area would be an improvement. The decor was a bit tired, but I know it is a very busy pub, so it gets a hammering from continual footfall !! The tables in the bar were in need of a thorough clean. Breakfast could be better. The shaving light in the bathroom didn't work and the bathroom lighting was exceedingly dim. The floor in the bedroom creaked a bit and the door to the bathroom had a really loud squeak (We rushing off to a funeral and forgot to report the door). There was not anything to dislike.. Not much, just some little things need updating, plus my room had a double bed, but the end of the bed touched the wall, which didn't worry me due to single traveller. The room was of sufficient size. Only real dislike was the shower: difficult to control temperature and very low water pressure. For the value nothing. car park on opposite side of the large pub from room entrances. no problem unless raining. No cooked breakfast option - odd for a place that does meals in the evening. A full english breakfast wasnt available. complimentries only mentioned would need to seek staff if required. as a heatwave insitu a fridge with icecubes would have been nice. shower didn't have any pressure so couldn't use it. i found the bath a little too narrow the shower curtain was sticking to me but that happens. The name! I was heading for The Innkeepers Lodge and it was actually called The Railway!! You need to address that since I passed the building twice looking for The Innkeepers Lodge!!! I had to ask in the end. No full English breakfast. The double bed was not the most comfortable we have ever slept in. having the option of a room with a king size bed would have been good. Parking arrangements. We stayed in room 108 There were a few problems the wardrobe doors were faulty, curtains were off the rail,toilet cistern took ages to fill up and then didn't always flush, the telephone wasn't working,these faults were reported but were not put right. Rooms and corridors were very warm. Bed was uncomfortable. pub a bit tired. Did not see something negative. broken rail in wardrobe,nowhere to hang cloths. pop up waste in bathroom sink broken.room( (102) very small. I was told the door would be open to 1.30 or 2 am. But when I knocked on the door at 1.15, it was locked and I could not get in. I knocked for 20 minutes and ended up having to wake up a friend who lives nearby and sleep on his sofa. Major fail! As far as hotels goes, being able to sleep there is their reason for existence. Do not know where to start. 1. phones needed a card to use, hotel was supposed to sell at bar but nobody knew anything about it. 2. could not receive incoming calls 3. no tv remote 4 bathroom light interfered with shower curtain. 5. wallpaper coming off of walls in stairway overall appearance very dingy inside and out. 6. nobody on reception before 9.00 in morning or after 4.30 pm. All of it. It was burger night special on the menu, and they had run out of burgers by 6.30pm. Was not told about the party/disco from 9-12.00. I had a room right above it as did some other guests. NOT happy, very inconsiderate to hotel guests. Would not stay here again. Didn't like a buffet breakfast. Shower didn't work properly and soakaway from the sink didn't work at all. The noise from the function room. No cooked breakfast.
