    The setting is quiet and tranquil with only a short drive to other larger villages, the coast and mountains. The guesthouse was stunning, beautiful interior and very comfortable. Our room was lovely with incredible views overlooking the dramatic countryside. The home cooked breakfast was delicous! We never left feeling in the slightest bit hungry ... what people say » and they were more than happy to change the menu to suit your requirements or if like me, your fussiness. However, the highlight of Carlton Green was - Loved the secret, untouristy beautiful location close to Scafell Pike (15min drive), the gorgeous listed building with luxury interior decor including wood burning stove in lounge and 4 poster bed, clean throughout, excellent shower and beautiful bath, wonderful full English breakfast included, advice on local restaurants, pubs and walks given by helpful hosts (even gave us printouts of directions and weather conditions)...Best of all was the care and consideration of Alison and Alan.     Our fourth stay at the bridge which says it all,Stayed in the four poster room this time as usual clean and tidy with ample tea and coffee facilities.The breakfast and restaurant food were to the usual high standard with a great selection of local beers .As we like walking the location is superb and scafell pike and waswater are only five minutes ... what people say » away.Wil definately be returning. - The Bridge Inn is olde-worldly and extremely comfortable. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient. The food served in the cosy bar/restaurant was superb and excellent value for money. A great choice of local and guest beers and very convivial atmosphere. Our first visit but certainly not our last. A pleasure to stay at the Bridge Inn.

    The Old School is the best accommodation we've ever experienced. The setting is terrific, between the mountains on one side and the sea on the other. It is within a short drive of Wasdale, so it was ideal for our hike up Scafell Pike.     yself and my husband and another couple stayed 1 night and chose this hotel due to the location - close to seascale but the location was beautiful the bar was a typical country inn type, the staff friendly, food was good & the Kamikazi real ale went down well. We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

Nothing was spared so we had a fantastic time. very clean, nice and quiet valley, great for walks, surroundings are spectacular. there is a drying room, great for wet afterwalk clothes.     Hosts Deb and John very easy-going and helpful with good tips even for seasoned walkers who knew the area! Breakfasts truly wonderful and catered for all diets. Main course: choice of full English, smoked haddock, kippers, porridge (best I have ever had!) All cooked to perfection. Great views of red squirrels, jays and many garden birds from break... what people say » fast room, plus deer in garden on one occasion. Bed was comfy. Room smallish but fine and we had our dog with us who Deb and John made a great fuss of - It was a truly beautiful place to stay. If you enjoy wildlife and walking its perfect. I woke up to see the deer in the orchard outside our bedroom window, a wonderful start to our weekend. Watching the red squirrels and different types of birds whilst having breakfast [ a fantastic Full English] was wonderful. Extremely friendly owners, dog friendly. The stars are amazing to look at . We are definitely going again and have recommended it to our friends. 10 out of 10 from us.

    The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful. The bar was cosy and the food good and big portions! The room was warm and comfortable. - I couldn't fault anything & the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food they serve was excellent and I would definitely stay there again.

    Loacation was perfect for Wast Water which we wanted to explore. Breathtaking scenery all around the hotel. Easy walking distance to local pubs. - The valentines 3 course meal was great and we went horse riding, the hotel staff were excellent at arranging this for us.
