Everything! The wonderful attitude of the staff, the beautiful grounds, the comfortable room, the free tea and coffee and provision of Sunday papers and the late check-out time on Sunday. We had a wonderful night's stay and would definitely recommend Uplands to our friends. Really unusual setting. Liked the chalet style rooms and the 'monastry' feel to the interconnecting blocks of rooms. Liked the large windows and the bed was comfy.
Will try and stay when in the area next time.all reviews »
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were lovely. The breakfast was fantastic and for an extra £5 we could eat in bed. I would def stay at this hotel again. The staff were extremely helpful. Cheap price, good location. comfort stay. Pleasant gardens, nice location, good breakfast, clean room with garden view, very reasonably priced. arrived at midnight = and still the room was available and friendly person to assist. The relaxing atmosphere of the grounds and the very pleasant walkaround them. It is quiet, nice landscape in a back yard and around. Layout of the place was good and very friendly staff. Great location, friendly staff. Well equiped rooms.A quiet hotel set in beautiful grounds. Friendly staff, pleasant hotel. Execellent value. Although the rooms are a little small they have everything you need and are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is great. The highlight is the complimentary tea and coffee that hep to start and finish the day so well.Quick service in restaurant. Quick check-out. Nice surroundings. service and food was excellent. Convenience and parking. Location. Uplands Conferebce Centre is situated in a lovely part of thecountryside with easy access to the nearby town and shopping centre. Value for money was good, and Breakfast was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful.coffee and tea constantly available for free excellent idea!. spacious comfortable room with good wheelchair access. Breakfast was wonderful and plenty of choice. The setting and the grounds. Cost of the rooms. All the staff cheerful helpful couldn't do enough for you - brillantsense of humour especially the manager! The food was fantastic -location was great(once I found it! But I am good a getting lost!). The staff were excellent and provided a discount due to the problem below. The hotel was a very good size and not too far from the main town. Pleasant rooms. Excellent food. Friendly service. Out in the country, pleasant setting. The surroundings and views. Conveniently located. Relaxed atmosphere. The coffee room. All of the staff were fantastic, very friendly and good service from everyone. The food was also very nice despite a limited selection available. Countryside location. Venue parking. Easy to find.Nice scenery and grounds, good public areas. facilities and staff good. Staff nice, nice location. Car parking. Very dark, felt a bit scared going back to car later to get my glasses. Also very muddy, car covered when we left. Also very little space to park because there was a party in the marquee. The room was a bit minimal, ie bathroom not the most modern and an old tv. But the zise made up for that fact and the pure pleasure of dealing with the staff. No it is very good value, but the layout is more like a Motel than a Hotel, which is what I expected.Having to leave!. It was a bit noisy at night due to other guests being noisy. This is not the hotel's fault.Noise from other guests. Bed only standard double, but in view of the cost and all the facilites, felt it was only a small niggle.Brunch - terrible and fortunately didn't waste money on dinner too!. Dinner in restaurant very overpriced. Not much better than works canteen food. noisy because hotel booked for a party with live band.it was noisy - the bathroom fan did not switch off ! Thank goodness we had our earplugs...otherwise a pleasant stay for an absolutely outstanding price. We found the bed a little too soft but I suppose that comes down topersonal preferences. No, may be weather - just after flood, but that's not yours fault..:). Room cold when we got into it, as it was cold outside. Only one cup in the bathroom for two people booked in.Given a room on 3rd floor of hotel, could of offered room on lower floor as no lift. Room a long way from car park. They had not received the fax from booking.com registering our booking. However, they found a room for us. Poor signposting. Reception and rooms a long way from car parking.
No free wi fi. Small old television in room. No remote. was not really a hotel, was a conference centre, that lets rooms at weekends, to far from nearest town and shops.2 problems: 1/ I had to extend my stay for one night. seemed to be a problem. 2/ Restaurant facilities limited and over priced. Room located next to a boiler room fan which run all night. Since we last stayed at the Uplands, they have erected a permanentmarquis which now takes up a lot of lawned area.Naturally this is beingused for partys, weddings, etc and the noise levels of the disco can beheard everywhere. There is no longer, peace and quiet which we lovedabout coming here. The 5pm check out is a bit hit and miss. We have beenfrequently locked out of our room by 11am. Unfortuanately there was a Party taking place in a Marquee on the green right outside our original room, door, with loud live music on the friday evening. However when approached the staff did find us an alternative room straight away.rooms tired need updating. poor access into the dining room. The position of our room to the Christmas parties was far to close!!! Ours parties are not nearly as good for those that don't go. Cleaning up at 1am also tends to disturb those who went to bed at 11pm. Especially when it involves wheeling beer barrels along corridors. The same goes for empty trollies, which could in all reality wake the dead. This did tend to spoil our stay. The bathroom wasn't very good. The shower head was held together by tape and the water leaked everywhere making the room very damp. Other than the bathroom the hotel was good. The room and bed far too small and uncomftable for two people I wasawake all night. we were unable to get a cooked breakfast as the chef didn't turn up.On arrival our room wasnt ready but we did get the choice of 2 otherrooms and the room we finally chose was better. Drinks are very expensive. With the rooms straight out onto an open walkway we were disturbed by the noise of other guests into teh early morning, if those who had been at the function were located all together apart from those who weren't it would have been better . No twin rooms. No fresh bread or rolls for breakfast. The hotel had not prepared for a wheelchair customer and had allocated their one room to another guest. Breakfast buffet could have been better organised. Some items ran out and took a while to replenish. The breakfast staff weren't that efficient some of the guest that camein for breakfast got asked straight away if they wanted tea, coffee andtoast, no one came and asked us. I was disappointed by the standard of furnishings in the room, a small bed with one good pillow and one terrible one. Although clean and tidy, the rooms could do with a revamp.Although competitively priced, the room was very, very basic, with a window that would not shut. The restaurant food was disappointing, especially breakfast fow which I paid £3.5 more than the price advertised in the bar. bathroom extractor ran ran constantly, all night almost impossible to get to sleep. The bed was extremely uncomfortable.
