What people say
I enjoyed having a good bedside reading light. I also enjoyed walking down the High St and looking at the historic buildings. Value. Good stuff, good price, close to downtown. Pubs around. Wasn't the most moder hotel but our stay was very good. Staff were very helpful, our breakfast was good and we had a very restful nights sleep. It was convenient for the centre of town and the station. It wasn't noisy considering how central it was.all reviews »
The room was very nice - "did what it said on the tin". friendly and helpful staff. Brief but excellent. Maybe not the most comfortable of hotels, but good value for money. Perfect location for us, just off the high street.the staff were polite and efficient..the room had everything we needed...it had a central location. Centrality of the location i.e. close to shops, banks etc.facilities were of a good standard and value for money. Convenience of situation for restaurants, shops etc.Good position with easy access to the town. Wedding.Quiet,. The hotel staff were polite and friendly. I phoned up for directions and was given clear directions to the hotel.Hotel was in a perfect situation for the high street. Bedroom was a very good size.
good size. nice and clean. The staff were incredibly helpful. Helpful staff -very courteous. Comfortable room. center of town. Clean, comfortable room close to shops, bars and restaurants with pleasant and polite staff. Ideal for lone visitors and not far from railway station. Taxi ordered for me by the hotel arrived on time too.Clean, comfortable and well situated. Location on Guildford main street. friendly people. good price. The location and the car park available for the hotel. The privacy and the level of tranquility and comfort for the value of money paid. Friendly staff, were able to store luggage after check-out until the evening. Is in the centre of Guilford, near to all other shops and commercial outlets. Its convenience. Based in the centre of Guildford and accessible for London. Free internat access in public areas, good location. Nice Staff and close to the city centre. convenience of position and price. The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is just at the top of Guildford high street, right next to all the shops, bars and restaurants.I moved rooms to an older room which was ok. The hotel was very hot, so on the plus side there are no problems with heating!!. it is located in the middle of the town center. so you don't have to walk very far. Its locatation was convenient for trains. Friendly and helpful staff.Easy access to town. The rooms were adequate, but then I had a double room for a single person. Friendly staff and the bar looked new and fresh. I had a room which overlooked the main road running through the town, but once I'd closed the window and the secondary double-glazing it was quite quiet. I don't know if this would be the case at the weekend, Guildford looked like it had more than its fair shair of chavs.Fantastic location and friendly staff, would recommend based on this. Location is good and price seems to be the best in the area.friendliness and helpfulness of staff. location
friendly staff. Not really. It was good value for the price I paid. The Breakfast. Central heating was a bit noisy. I would only recommend one thing, a secure area for riders toleave their bikes, having had to take mine and keep it in my roomwas abit odd!. when I booked it said that breakfast was not included in the price - but it was. No it was very good. It could do with some new linen as sheets had holes in them. And furnishings are quite worn. more coffee in the room would have been nice.;-). It was quite noisy during the night i.e. my room was on the street. Only a small car park available otherwise it was a case of using a municipal car park. Public areas needed sprucing up. No lift. Bad beer. The hotel is in need of decorating - as this makes it look unkept and dirty.unfortunately the matrress on the bed was very uncomfortable needs replacing. No major problems, if pushed I'd say the mattress on the bed had seen better days.
Also, I was woken very early (5am) by a persistant and noisy pigeon at my window! Although obviously that's not your fault!. Not enough bedding on the bed. Decor rather outdated. Much farther from the station than I expected. no internet connection. Not the fault of the Hotel but our sleep was disturbed many times by the loud noises of revellers in the side street, once from an internal disturbance that involved the Police. Carpets a little shabby in communal areas upstairs. No lift so I had to carry my bag up three flights of stairs. Also, confusion as to whether they provided breakfast or not. Website said not included but continental could be bought for £5. Note in reception indicated this would be served in room but bill stated breakfast included (after I'd made alternative arrangements).Sinks in the bath and in the wash basin are almost completelyobstructed. A bit noisy if some guests choose to leave the hotel at 4 AM as when I was there. looking a bit shabby in places. The basin in my bathroom was cracked. There was no shower mat provided (there was a notice saying one could be requested at reception, but that is not too helpful as one is about to step into the shower!).the room was very small, and I know it was a single but it still to small. Old windows, too noisy, room was facing parking garage. The shower has been wrongly designed. it is impossible to have a proper shower and relaxation time as the shower and room floor level is the same, and water runs around the room below your bed. It is the first time that i have experienced a so bad experience in an Hotel. I have stayed in hotels in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Singapore, France, Uk but this one has been the unique very bad experience. Second time I have stayed there. This is not a cheap hotel, but yet again a very small room, a shower that didnt work properly, a sink that didnt drain, no remote control for a television that only offers the standard channels. For the price, breakfast should also be included..Outdated decor, poor condition of upholstery and bathroom facilities. Old fashioned lacked any atmosphere. a bit run down tired looking. I thought that for what the hotel was, it was not value for money, however i am aware that this is more to do with the area than the hotel itself. The room was quite small and worn, especially in the bathroom. For instance, the shower-head had rusted badly. It was fine for us, but really this hotel needs some major investment for modernisation. If you are allocated one of the "newly designed" rooms expect a wet-room shower in a bathroom that floods the entire room. The bedroom is tiled throughout, the bathroom doors are just a sliding partition and there is no buffer to stop water pouring under the bed, don't leave your bags on the floor!!. the hotel is very noisy. th floors in the hotel crack when someone walks in the corridor. We could not sleep because of the bed springs digging in our backs. We had to ask twice to move rooms;we were considering cancelling our stay when we were moved..This was very noisy and we felt we had no choice but to leave the hotel at the first opportunity, we gave them a day's notice, which was not good as the last night was even more noisy. We received small discount for the 1st two nights. No lift; need to take stairs and with luggages very inconvenient. Hotel looked old and grubby - would choose travellodge forequivalent price.Room was quite small, but not unreasonbaly so. The hotel could do with a lick of paint throughout and new carpets in the entrance and main walkway. The rooms also needed the attention of a decent cleaner. Overall, not a bad experience. To stay in the centre of guildford for £60 in a double isn't bad, but I'm sure their would have been better BandBs close by. Curtains fell down in the morning. The room was really rather tatty and the shower/bathroom were awful. No hot water, windows wide open when I arrived = freezing cold room, not really tasty breakfast. Wireless Internet connection from the lobby area is unstable. room not very clean, light bulbs not working in room, old tv, no freeview. wireless internet access (free) in lounge only
noisy firedooors on first floor
noisy cleaning staff
seperate hot and cold water taps, no mixer taps
appaling coffee at breakfast.
