We found the staff very helpful and went out of their way more than once to try and help us with our enquiries. Also we arrived about an hour and a half before the check in time and we were still able to check in as our room was ready. The family room we stayed in was lovely and spacious with plenty of room for our 7 month old to crawl around in :) We would definitely stay again. great service from the workers, polite friendly and could't do any more for us, made our stay very good, they were so help full. a good hotel all ways needs good staff and they are a credit to the nelson.
all reviews » Upon checking in, we mentioned it was our 30th anniversary and we were upgraded to a suite which was amazing and totally unexpected, the staff were lovely. Staff were great Room sizes 24 hour bar Views from our room were worth twice as much money if room was modernised Location. Good location, staff was friendly and room was clean but overall, I would certainly go again nice hotel. Impressed. sea view en suite nice and clean comfortable,, good price ,great staff,, sea front location,, will go again,. stayed before got a single room with sea view worth every penny yes it needs updating, but im going again,. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful at all times. The evening entertainment too was very good. Staff were really friendly and helpful, rooms were spacious and clean. Met some lovely people in the bar. large room,, en suite, good price, clean, but needs updating, would stay again good location,,,. Details of cleanliness in bathroom poor. creaky floorboards from rooms above made a lot of noise. needs a money tree,, needs updating, doubling glazing, redecorating etc, just needs some tlc, but would stay again. décor aging badly. I liked everything. Floor boards were creaky and could here people upstairs walking about but this is the only fault we could find. Decor becoming tired and could do with a little TLC although it did not spoil the experience at all. Very poor shower. No shower, we had a jacuzzi bath instead which was great but now shower hose to wash hair etc. Bit dated & shabby round the edges. the beds in the room weren't comfy and view wasn't great. car parking.exterior requires repairs ie balcony stonework.shower in 302 hot water did not work. stairs. notin. the rooms were very tired and in need of some TLC but this I realise has to be done a bit at a time. The bathrooms need upgrade. The fungus out side the windows. Very bad. Really old interiors and un-comfy hard mattress. Poor staff went out and had to ring to get in at 3am also long wait to leave. Bed was really hard and to top it all when I was getting ready a worman just came in did'nt even knock on door and should of knowed I had not checked out. When I did check out waited for 15 mins to speak someone but no one turned up. Poor shower. Hole in bath. Dirty Bath Poor mattress. Poor curtains (very light in the mornings). For 70 pounds it was not worth the money at all. The bed was an old spring matress that was barely large enough for two people. The door lock never worked properly. There was no ice machine in the hotel. I understand that the hotel is old, which is why I picked it, but it was obvious that has not been well taken care of. the furniture was torn, curtains hanging off runners,bed lumpy, crack acrossed bedroom ceiling. Wallpaper and plug in sink dirty I have stayed here lots of times and its the worst I have ever seen it paid a lot of money for room it was my wife birthday and was not happy may never stay then again. badly stained matress base all over,sattelite tv signal scrambled(no resolve)very loud rumbling and hammering noises for hours at a time through the walls mattress was very hard and uncomfortable,it had the feel of a badly run down business.and the towel rail was broken off the wall and the bedsheets were not changed for clean ones daily or the bed remade properly by the maid. Defo could do with a makeover , but for £50-£60 a night you really shouldn't moan . If u want top notch you gotta pay £200 + a night. Room was not clean and it was outdated. Hotel was dated needed complete renovation the room was small smelt of smelley feet the wallpaper was peeling off the walls the bathroom was dated the carpet needed to be replaced awful place to stay would not go back! !!!.
