Friendly staff and location ample parking rooms are very comfy good food.This is the second time we have been and already intend going again this year. Just about everything, service, quality, cleanliness, position of the hotel, etc. etc.Fantastic views from the room. Friendly, polite and helpful staff. Roomwas small but had everything that was required and was very comfortableand clean. Food was excellent. We will certainly be returning foranother stay.

Ambience of bar, Saturday night 'entertainment' noise from Stickle Barn.Disappointed that we booked a four poster through bookings.com, but this turned out to be unavailable, we were then offered a superior room at a discount with a free bottle of wine. We accepted this but when arrived at hotel we were not in a superior room and they knew nothing about this or the bottle of wine. They were unable to change rooms but did give us the wine. Size of room for superior rates. The room was supposed to be a "Superior Room", but was tiny - the double bed and dresser/drawer unit took up 90% of the floor space. It also had a very low ceiling and I banged my head several times. The bathroom was huge, but could have done with a small table, or similar for toiletries, etc. (see also above). The food was poor and the hotel lacked any sort of atmosphere. That your company forgot to inform the hotel we were coming nd thereforewe had nowhere to stay on a busy weekend. Fortuntely the staff got yourcompany out of the mire!.

Surrounded by hills that can cater for all levels of walker; horse riding; golf; numerous water sports including water skiing, swimming and boat hire; luscious garden centres; shopping in nearby Ambleside, Windermere and the larger towns of Keswick and Kendal. The hotel location at the head of one of the grandest valleys in England makes the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel the perfect base for a hill-walking holiday. Clustered around the head of the dale are some of the giants of Lakeland, such as Bowfell, Crinkle Crags and the Langdale Pikes. The views are simply stunning and well worth the climb!

Bedrooms offer the most dramatic of views, whether over Stickle Beck as it tumbles down the fell side, of the dominant and brooding Pikes or Lingmoor as she forms the long south easterly side of the valley.

Rooms are individually furnished, which reflects the family nature of the hotel and our concern for detail in making your stay enjoyable. For that special anniversary, birthday gift or if you just feel like treating yourself, why not book our sumptuous four-poster bedroom and pamper yourself.
