I stayed at the Thompsons Arms for 2 nights midweek and. I booked a single room but was upgraded at no extra cost, to one of the cottages. It was well furnished and spotlessly clean. I really couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Lilly and Stuart were the perfect hosts and I will most definitely stay here again when I next visit the York area. Highly recommended. . We stayed at the Thompsons Arms as we were attending a wedding in Flaxton. Stuart was extremely accommodating with regards to our timings of early arrival due to a wedding. The cottage was spotless, bed very comfy and full cooked breakfast was just what the hangover required! Thank you very much.
all reviews » Excellent accommodation and cannot be faulted in any way. We stayed for one night in the larger cottage and there was everything you would need to stay self catering. We had dinner in York but did enjoy a lovely breakfast at this accommodation. Very friendly place and would definately stay again. We stayed here for a wedding, the owner was good enough to transport us and another couple back to the evening reception as there is no local taxi's available. We feel this is over and above their duties, and we were appreciated this. The warm welcome and lift from the landlord to the wedding reception close by were very much appreciated. The cottages are excellent for a short stay exploring all that York has to offer and the lovely surrounding countryside. The location was very good for access to York the Moors and the Dales.The accomodation was comfortable and very homely.The host Stuart was very friendly and helpful. The service received was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.Cant wait for our next visit, a big thank you for a lovely stay. The friendliness of the owner and his family who invited me to coffee in his kitchen. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The owners of the Thompson arms were lovely very friendly . They were very helpful about the local area no problems . Everything the owners were very friendly and easy access to York just a nice place to chill would definitely go back!. the room was lovely, we are definitely staying there again. The parking near the apartments was difficult to get in and out when other people are staying in the other apartments.Its a shame the pub does not serve food in the evening. Having to go home for work on Monday. There was nothing I didn't like. Nothing. Nothing. Radiators need bleeding. There is a lot of air trapped in the system. I forgot to mention it to the proprietor on leaving. did not care for sauages at breakfast or the small table we ate at. That they had pets in the family run business but no warning of such. I found some pet hair on the bed which wasn't great... With my having allergies, the pets (although cute & well behaved) weren't a welcome addition. The emergency light in the room emits a bright light which made it difficult for me to sleep. I kept waking up thinking it was daylight. I am used to a really dark room so this may not be a problem for everyone. Bumping my head on the dormer window ceiling in the middle of the night!.
