We only stayed 1 night, We had a superior room and were very pleased as it was very clean and spacious. The separate spacious bathroom with a roll top bath and views down across the sea made this a very enjoyabale stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating too. Comfortable,relaxed atmosphere, staff helpful and very pleasantenvironment. A very nice hotel which I chose because I have stayedthere before.
all reviews » Without a request, our room was upgraded to avoid a Christmas party being held at hotel. This was particularly appreciated. Quiet hotel in 5 acres of gardens and woodland. The food, room, faclities and staff were excellent. Well maintained, friendly atmosphere set in lovely gardens. Just everything-staff -facilities-location will use again. food was fantastic, especially the king prawns!!. it was so peaceful , staff so helpful. pool facilities, and the quietness. Drinks were also very expensive. Appauling tv reception in the room, although in public rooms every care was given to crystal-clear reception. Much advertising of Best Western around, but no detailed maps anywhere to be seen.Location: too far to walk to Falmouth town, too far to walk to the University of Cornwall campus. the bathrooms need to be renovated. initial room smell of drains but re allocated room very good. Very small and rather outdated and scruffy bathroom. disappointed with bedroom needs updating especially bathroom, nevertheless was very clean. no sausage with full english breakfast !. spiders in room, restaurant food far too fussy and 'nouvelle'. Room was not heated prior to arrival. Rooms looked tired and could have done with an airing. I think some time and money needs to be spent on bringing the hotel a little "up to date" The pool area needed better ventialtion and air conditioning as the changing and pool areas were always full of condensation and yet we saw it cleaned daily. The bed although enormous was really 2 beds pushed together and they still used blankets. I think replacing with duvets would be better and more comfortab. The hotel made a mistake with our reservation - we were only booked in for 2 nights rather than 3 and it was suggested that we accept an alternative hotel for the third night or for the three nights - we were not happy about this and said so and so it was agreed that we would stay; poor breakfast; uncomfortable bed. Slow breakfast service. Poor room facilities - TV not working correctly, lights not working, bathroom decor and equipment old and tired. Our room was 'worn out' with very old decor especially in bathroom. It may have been originally a smoking room as it had a destinct aroma. The carpets were stained, The curtains were old and did not draw properly. Needed a good modernisation makeover. We wondered if because we had booked via your website we may have got a poorer standard room. Saw some much more modern ones available.The hotel is extremely dated. The decor could certsinly do with some improvements and there was a terrible old, musty smell about the whole hotel. our rooms were very noisy - we were on groundfloor and could hear every little step. Door was faulty and banged against frame whenever someone in the coridor opened or closed another door. Sleep was short and interupted. Breakfast service was awful on day 1, then good. Rooms were overpriced if you do not take advantage of hotel pool and gym - and maybe overpriced even then.the evening meal and the piano player, the badly working shower, the badly fitting loo seat and inappropriately placed bathroom radiator. Also the ability to hear next door in their bathroom.

Information about the area

Falmouth is an ideal location from which to explore Cornwall. Whilst the Eden Project and the Tate St Ives are only an hour's drive, there is so much to see and do in the immediate vicinity

Visit the National Maritime Museum Cornwall on the edge of Falmouth Harbour and visit the watchtower to learn more about the evolution of the port and town.

Walk around Pendennis Castle on the headland and then take the ferry to St Mawes to see the sister fortification, commissioned by Henry VIII to defend Carrick Roads against foreign invasions.

By Car:
- Follow the signs from the A30 towards Falmouth.
- Turn right at Hillhead roundabout.
- Go straight over 2 mini roundabouts.
- After one mile turn left into Mongleath Road.

By Train:
Take the train to Truro and change here for the Falmouth branch line. Penmere Halt is half a mile down the road from us. Please let the hotel know what time you will be arriving at Penmere Halt and the hotel can arrange a taxi to pick you up.
