all reviews The room we had in The Chalk Lane Hotel was described as a "Small " double bedroom. It was quaint, light and airy, well furnished and complete with tv and direct dial telephone. There was a fire door which opened out onto the fire escape which overlooked the garden. The ensuite was spotlessly clean. Brekfast was plentiful and served quickly and efficiently by friendly professional staff. I attended a Wedding on Saturday 25th May with other family members and stayed the night. The Hotel was very personable and very clean. Our room was comfortable and very clean, nice hot water. The food was excellent, the meal after the Wedding Service and Breakfast. All the staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. The staff are always very helpful and friendly; nothing appears to be too much trouble. The rooms are very comfortable and have character. The food is very good and seems to improve continuously. The hotel is quiet and relaxing, yet accessible readily by rail and road. The design, the atmosphere. The Hotel was very cosy, friendly and relaxing. Staff was very good.at breakfast bread was not available as stated on the menu.( no soda bread; i had to wait for rolls). This was my second stay at this lovely hotel. It is so comfortable and friendly. From a business point of view there is no extra (hidden) cost for the internet! I shall certainly stay here again. The staff were excellent, as always, welcoming, helpful and so effective; nothing was too much trouble. Dinner was excellent and the room was very, very comfortable. Rooms were well decorated and felt homely and welcoming but not anonymous like the large chains. Beautiful bathroom, comfortable lounge, good food. Welcomed warmly. Lovely location/off the beaten track, yet very close to Epsom Downs so very easy to get to and from the racing! Compared to where I stayed previously, was idyllic!. Friendly efficient staff in family run business. Cosy old-fashioned hotel. Excellent dining room and restaurant open until 10pm. Good Menu. Very good breakfast. All of the staff were so friendly and professional especially on reception. The beds were possibly the most comfortable i have experienced in any hotel. Free upgrade to beautiful well appointed room. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Friendly and welcoming staff. Independent feel - not a chain. I've stayed here before and had a gorgeous room, The single I had this time was a bit small and very average. Good breakfast - friendly service. The dinner was excellent and far exceeded our expectations. We had a very comfortable stay and would recommend the hotel to any one. Very comfortable, clean and stylish hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Me and my hubby had very relaxing weekend break there. Lovely welcoming reception, warm room and nice breakfast, they catered for my coeliac issues which was excellent. Just off Epsom Downs, close to Epsom itself. Very quiet, all staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent. liked the design of the hotel. nice feel on entering the hotel and impressed with the choice of furnishings. lovely comfy beds, friendly staff, lovely breakfast room, brilliant breakfast, attentive staff. Location, comfortable environment, breakfast, friendly service, pleasant room & decor. The quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. A good value for money stay. Very pleasant staff, helpful and friendly. Clean and well appointed, comfortable. Staff friendliness Great areas for relaxation Very nice breakfast Spacious rooms. The staff are always attentive and friendly; the atmosphere is always relaxing. Nice non hotel feel being able to open the we Indies and walk into town. Beautiful room and bathroom ( with his and hers sinks!) Good shower. The "countrified" feel of the place Food / service quality Peace!. Location of hotel. Food was good and friendly staff. Lots of charactor period decore and frendily. Very elegant up market hotel for the price. The lounge area, breakfast and the staff. Very attentive and accommodating staff. nice quiet location. good food. Friendly and approachable staff Nice breakfast Good parking facilities Within walking distance to town centre. Food was excellent - first rate Downstairs areas excellent. Good location, very peaceful. Good parking space. Good venue for a Wedding Reception. good restaurant, pleasant breakfast. Location was perfect for me. great friendly staff. Family atmosphere. Close to Epsom, Country classic hotel and the reception areas were comfortable. The breakfast was good and the location and staff were pleasant. Extremely pleasant staff, excellent cooked breakfast. - My own preference would have been for a slightly larger double bed but other than that, it was perfect. There was nothing I didn't like but the only concern is that as the hotel is a listed building - there is no lift or floors on the ground floor. Not a problem for us but may be for someone who is in a wheelchair. Prices at the bar were a bit overly expensive. Minor gripe was that the shower rose is three or four inches too low for me, but that is just me. The room was very cold at night. Even though i turned the heater to maximum it turned itself off.i had had a shower before i went to bed and was shivering. Took the extra blanket but had to put my feather jacket on top of that. Control of bedroom temperature was not effected easily, relying on windows, versus radiators. The rock in the road for me was trying to find someone to take my breakfast order - after 15 minutes sat alone in the restaurant I had to go to the kitchen and ask for someone to come!. Very small room, but my own fault as I booked very late!. Nothing. Single glazed windows so a bit cold - especially coming out of the shower. Single room a bit pokey. Nothing!. I think hotel is little bit pricey - rooms, meal price are to high. If you want a quiet and relaxed stay then there's nothing to dislike. nothing. had a large van so parking a pain but if in car that would be fine. Heating not turned on although requested this on arrival when being shown room. Took well over an hour for heating to come on after return from dinner in town at midnight. Felt cold and didn't sleep well. Nothing. No elevator and kettles had scale in them. nothing. Single room a bit small. difficult to find with GPS. not told chaik lane is one way. Breakfast. Being kept awake by over enthusiastic couple near by and a very noisy bathroom fan in someone else's room at 6am in the morning. Small double room booked but was far too small for two people to move around in at the same time. Breakfast a huge disappointment. Probably cooked before I ordered it - egg fried to a rubbery, solid state, sausage overcooked on one side, bacon mostly fat. I opened bedroom window for fresh air and was shocked at the filth of the window frame - far more than could accumulate through a winter. The somewhat strident notices in the room concerning any possible accidental damage etc and the similar in tone notice on the desk re non- smoking and the penalties which would be taken from your credit/debit card -- they must have had some very and extremely poor quality guests to have to put up notice of this sort. didn't know about bus service down the block. bathrooms "tired", needs a refresh. Slightly dated in need of some. TLC. was not a superior twin room shattered window pane flaking paint around shower no black out blinds/curtains. No bath. Rooms were not value for money vs sayPremier Inn comfort, and food extremely expensive especially lunch menu when considering the location and the general "class" and comfort of the hotel, food costs more in line with top City Centre London Hotels. Unfortunately we were woken at about 5.30am the first night by the alarm from the room above and a lot of creaky floor boards and voices. The hot water took an age to come through in the shower to our room no 3. We were locked out of the hotel at 11.45pm after telling reception we would be late back. We eventually raised someone who let us in. Room 1, is too small to accommodate a double bed, the bathroom should be condemned, the shower cubical and tiles are full of mould and fungus, the bedroom window is also rotting,.
