The room we stayed in was, I think, the largest in the hotel and was very comfortable. Very nice bed linen and well chosen bathroom fittings. Plenty of hot water for showers and bath etc. Also, the room was never too hot, which hotel rooms often are. A good location for exploring the East Devon and Dorset coastline, which was the purpose of our visit. The staff were always pleasant and helpful.
all reviews » The hotel was warm throughout, dispite the atrocious weather.Both the welcome and the atmosphere! We were staying three nights and ate in every evening and couldn't fault it. It was so nice to have proper sized bath sheets. Altogether very comfortable and we would stay again. The accommodation was first class,very clean and modern.The breakfasts were delicious,good ingredients and well cooked. The hotel was quiet and ideally situated close to Seaton, SIdmouth and Lyme Regis.The owner and the staff were very friendly. spotlessly clean.great breakfast.rooms spacious,light and airy and well decorated.Everyone very friendly and helpful.Generous tea tray each day.Car park handy. Easy to reach other places in the area. Room was airy and light with comfortable bed and soft pillows. En sute althoigh a little small had great shower. Obviously recently refurbished with colours brighjt and within keeping with the style of the building. Hard to pinpoint but it felt a bit sterile. I got the feeling that it has, in the past, been a B&B but with the restaurant in the evening is now classed as an hotel. Maybe that is why it has a 2 Star rating. It deserves better than a 2 Star rating but maybe needs to work on it's evening ambiance. We had no dislikes and will definately return should we wish to explore the area again. Could not fault it. We prefer bath size towels to bath sheets. Purely our preference. Nothing really. Did not dislike anything although Colyford village itself offered nothing of interest other than walking. Nearby Colyton village was better for shops, restaurant etc. no toilet brush, that seems to be very common in the UK and the States but is uncomfotable for the guests. I have to leave this blank:- nothing. See opposite. Nothing really just ticked off on arrival for not replying to e mail which I had not received asking for our menu preferences three weeks in advance. The food was good apart from the duchesse potatoes which were horrible all a bit hyped up. nothing negative here. Nothing. Having to leave. Slightly inconvenient that the restaurant was not open on Sunday evening - very little else in the village, so did have to drive. Not a great problem though. The absence of face cloths and a toilet brush. Not applicable. we liked everything. Steep internal stairs. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Good choice of food but what arrived was bland and didn't meet expectations. nothing. Couild hear water flow from other rooms on occasion.
