As we walked into the hotel we were struck by the apperance of how cleanand well presented not clutered a nice warm smile and welcome from thenice lady on duty at the desk when we arrived although it was very busyat the time of our arrivaill we were acknowledge with a smile. Adjoining rooms - a must when with young children. Close to amenities required ie bowling alley for national championships being held that weekend. Straight route into town centre. next to shopping ie Tesco. Easy to find.

If I am in Chelmsford again I know where I'll be staying. very very good for families, we travelled with 2 under 2 and could not fault the amenities, and we found the staff to be very accommodating. It was very clean and comfortable, easy parking, nice restaurant, good breakfast, helpful staff. Being able to switch on the radiator and the quick service in providing an iron. We only stayed one night but found the staff were very helpfull, the room was quiet and well prepeared. The food was good. We were put in one of the 'chalets' and this room was spacious and very clean. The en suite decor was 1970's but in very good order and spotless. There was traffic noise but the rooms have double glazing and the noise was no more than you would experience in any town hotel and not as bad as some Premier Inns. Second stay at this hotel (wasn't able to get in to Travelodge both times) and last time I found breakfast staff a little surly and just left people to get cutlery off other tables etc. No faults this time, staff were friendly and attentive. None every thing was far better than we expected for the price well donewe are coming back in oct and inted to book over this weekend. was not easy to locate a contact number for reception. I had to use my own mobile to call the hotel. No lift. I had to bring certain equipment with me for my workshops(which I was not aware of until 2 days prior to arriving) which then entailed my having to carry it up 2 sets of stairs. In spite of the fact that the hotel staff looked, there was no other room available. Although there is ground floor accommodation, I still feel that a lift is necessary. Room had a connecting door the the next room, which meant sounds from that room were easily heard/disturbing. The room I had was at the front of the hotel which faces on to a roundabout and I could clearly hear the noise of traffic - not a problem for me, but it would be for some people. need more vegetarian range. I booked a room for 2 people can it was a twin and i wanted a double. The directions on the link to the website were poor. The hotel's own directions (available when you are there) are fine. The bed was a bit soft / old. Had intended to eat Dinner in the hotel but the restaurant was closed for a wedding reception with no arrangements for normal guests. we had to find a restaurant elsewhere in the area.yes the lack of drinks to residents after 23.30 plus the bar staff lacked in every thing that had to do with good manners and politeness and for this the next questions answer is explained. other guests were noisy. Returned to hotel from wedding about mid night with other guests. Would have been nice to have been able to have a night cap in the bar but was told it was closed. Approach by car a little difficult but I found it easier by going to Tescos and taking their exit. Breakfast staff were slightly surly and didn't greet anybody or introduce them to the buffet section. The cooked breakfast was very good but was very slow coming. Considering you may have to dash between the main building and the chalets in the rain and the standard of decor we felt this hotel was overpriced. This hotel is in a 1970's time warp and seriously needs updating. Chrome fittings in bathroom were corroded and the shower head had piece of paper stuffed under it to hold it up. Also tacky things like cheap fitted wall trays for the tea and coffee, remote controls wired/screwed to the furniture etc. Despite being very clean hotel with crisp cotton sheets it is not worth £90 a night. Mattress was a bit worn out. no hot food avaliable on arrival. Would like to actually be allocated the room that is booked by my PA. This is the third time I have stayed at the hotel; each time my PA books a double room with a smoking preference, prints out confirmation but on arrival am I always given a twin room and have to complain before receiving the correct room I booked.
