What people say
The Auld Cairn was being worked on when we arrived the worker let us in, our room was clean and comfortable, we ate next door the Merchant's place and the food and service was amaxing! The window in our room faced the road and the transport trucks went by all night, the other window faced the back and the garden view, was not so nice, im sure with some work it could be very nice. Grant arranged our taxi for us for the next morning as we had to catch the ferry. He was very helpful. all reviews »
Lovely room. Very clean an comfortable. Lovely views from our room. Watched ferries pass at night. Quiet too. Had breakfast next door at the merchants house whose owners couldn't do enough. Lovely place too and both very friendly. I highly recommend the breakfast as well worth paying the extra. We had a meal too and this was excellent value for money. No faults whatsoever. Highly recommend.
the building was amazing and we loved being across the street from Loch Ryan. It was the only accomodation that had cross ventilation which was essential during the warm weather. The food was very nice and Grant was very helpful. The taxi to Stranraer was reasonable and it was brilliant having the Ferry right there.
We were made very welcome and when we explained we were to catch the early ferry and so couldn't stay for breakfast, we were offered a lovely take away breakfast, very sweet. Full marks. Very close to the Ferry terminal as well.
Proximity to Stena Line ferry terminal.
"The Merchants House" next door where our meals were available. Fiona and Alan who were so helpful and such good hosts, will stay at the Merchants next time we visit.
met by friendly member of staff who helped carry our bags up to our room, lovely big room, very clean, fabulous views of the loch, nice and quiet despite being on road, able to park car outside,.
Across from ferry port, big Spain's clean room. Stand alone bath.
Offered us a complimentary packed lunch/breakfast.
Friendly family run business.
Good quality room.
Good service.
Good food in their restaurant, should you want it.
Handy for catching the ferry to Belfast which is why we stayed. Also the cooked english breakfast was superb!.
The warm and friendly welcome and a cosy room. A very good shower room and our room was on the ground floor.
Convenient for ferry. Early morning take away breakfast. Comfortable. Clean. Friendly.
The room was very good. A Quirky stay really close to the ferry terminal.
The room was very comfortable, and the view over the bay spectacular.
Staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean.
Good bed clean room spacious excellent shower.
Great room overlooking the loch!.
Location, location, location.
Very close to ferry. Nice view. Great bathroom.
It was close to the ferry to Ireland. The decor of the room was quite nice and could have been lovely with a bit more attention to detail, including hanging the curtains using all the hooks.
Room was clean and comfortable.
it is right across the street from the ferry...easy access.
Room was a really generous size.
Was great. No faults I could find.
The eggs at breakfast were runny with pale yolks and I am used to having free range. They ran out of haggis so gave me vegetarian haggis. I would have rather been informed and allowed to choose not to have it.
No little shower cap.
Cobwebs in Auld Cairn room, seemed as though it just needed a bit of a clean and freshen up.
struggled to find it at first - a bigger sign on the door, or better description would help.
The stand alone bath meant there was a shower head but you had to hold it.
Nothing.
We only stayed for one night.
Be able to have a cooked breakfast .
Unable to obtain evening meal nearby.
I would have preferred having breakfast available in the inn itself. THat breakfast was next door was not clear from the website.
Shower matt in shower.
Would have liked an ocean view!!.
Contact telephone incorrect on letsbookhotel.com website. More information regarding the pub next door with eating facilities would have been appreciated.
MATRESSES. Horrible. Lumpy. Stairway felt unsafe.
We only saw a member of staff/owner once when we first arrived. Any meals including breakfast were served next door which meant going outside in what was quite heavy rain. The bed was as hard as a billiard table.
The fact that there is on-going work within the house. Room only price of £64 too dear. Breakfast £15 per couple served at adjoining B & B, Merchants House, where B & B cost is only £59.
Beds were miserable. Door was locked and no one was around. I had to walk the street to find someone that could help me. The rooms were old and smelled.
Bed was a super king but was not built properly.
