Stayed at the Bear Inn Motel last week for three days.I can only confirm what most people on here have said.This hotel is a great place to stay.We were visiting National Trust places in the area and it is a good place to base your trip.The rooms are all at ground level motel style with only one or two steps which was ideal for us as my wife is disabled.They are very well equiped and comfortable.The food in the bar/restaurant is first class and reasonably priced with good real ales on draught.W.
all reviews » The rooms look basic until you get inside, and then although the furniture could be updated the views from my room were amazing, which made up for the furniture, and anyway it was clean so does it really matter if the furniture is a little jaded? The staff are very friendly and the food is great. My room was clean and comfortable, and the village is beautiful. View from the rooms is lush. The bed was lovely and the bathroom was inviting and stylish, and most importantly, the shower worked really well! The breakfast was delicious and the staff were welcoming and friendly. I would have liked to have stayed there longer as the pub looked like a good venue in which to have a few drinks!. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a lovely view of the valley from our room. The location to Burwash village is perfect. The bed was comfortable and the room and en-suite clean. The food was really great for the money. The breakfast was amazing included in the price!. Always a pleasure staying at The Bear Inn, staff and locals are welcoming. The food is always very good with a wide range of choice to suit both wallet and taste. Location is beautiful and restful and the accommodation always of a very good standard. Would stay again. I thought the fact that dogs weren't allowed in the rooms was a bit tight, seeing as it's clearly a great area for walking dogs, plus the owners have 2 themselves! But that's literally all I can fault them on. The restaurant was a little tired and the chairs a little uncomfortable, but the food was so good it didn't matter too much. Unfortunately we had asked for a twin bedded room and got a four poster, as it was for 1 night and we are sisters we decided to share and not worry about it. The only minus point was that the sealant at the bottom of the shower tray had come away and it would be a shame to spoil what was a lovely room by not sorting it out before it caused greater problems. No complaints. Nothing. Lack of chair in room. TV obscured by four poster if trying to watch from bed. For my morning run all routes were downhill so it was uphill getting back!!!!. Food very disappointing; new chef hopeless. TV set too small and too far from beds. Unfortunately we didn't get much sleep because the toilets in adjoining rooms make an awful lot of noise and woke us up 3 times. Seek plumbing help!. Noisy smokers talking loudly outside till quite late. Room was cold on entry but warmed up pretty quickly. Would have liked two easy chairs in the double room. Receptionist was confused between lunch and room bookings. More motel than inn.
