I booked this hotel for my 73 year old mum. Initially she was on the 6th floor (there is no lift). As soon as she mentioned it they moved her to the first floor. She thought the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. She thought the hotel was spotlessly clean with lovely rooms and decor. She loved the garden area and will definitely stay again. Extremely friendly, delightfully modern, exceptionally clean, and Clifton is always a pleasure. Local to good food establishments. A seperate but integral ultra modern bar downstairs, with also extremely friendly staff , I always enjoy staying here.
all reviews » - Our room was excellent, comfortable, nice, cozy and warm. - Staff so nice and helpful, I don't remember the names, but particulary the boy at evenings and the elegant brunette lady in the mornigs were so amiable. - Very good value for money. Everything. The manager moved her car from her parking space so that I could park my car!! Never had that customer service before. Food at the restaurant was exceptionally good, nice atmosphere. My room was spotless. The hotel was in an excellent location for both the city and Clifton. Th e decor was light and modern. Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was of a high quality and freshly cooked. Excellent value overall. Good location, good sized single room, staff very helpful and particularly caring when one of our party had been taken to hospital. Bar and restaurant on premises but noise ended at reasonable time in the evening. Staff was nice, room was clean and quiet, nicely decorated and cosy. Bathroom was nice, everything was new and spotless. I stayed just for one night and didn`t have breakfast there, so no comments about that. The rececption staff were exemplary,very welcoming and attentive. My room was exceptionally clean,well-furnished and comfortable.The hotel's decor throughout was to of a high standard. The staff went the extra mile to make us feel at home, even giving up their own parking space so we could park near the hotel. The room was good and the bed very comfortable . We arrived early and were able to park outside the hotel for free. The room was very nice, double bed and large ensuite shower. Staff were very helpful. Free Wifi. I am not a large person but bath towels a bit small. Also although there was a shower, it was over the bath and could not be used as a standing shower as it was placed low above the taps. I believe this is because the roof was slanting. Breakfast and restaurant run by separate company. Breakfast good value and freshly cooked but restaurant staff not as well trained or attentive as the hotel's.Unfortunate for the hotel owners as this may detract from some people's experience. The bed was too soft for me, there was no lift in the hotel although my room was on fourth floor. I found it disappointing that I had to go across the road for breakfast as this didn't reflect the ambiance of the hotel. There was nothing to dislike about the hotel. The room was facing the road and the single glazed windows didn't offer much sound proofing from noisy late night/early morning party folk passing by (but that's not really the hotels fault). I found the room very hot and stuffy over night. Confusing room numbers + several stair cases. Room got hot at night. Door (338) very close to neighbours door that was always open with him lying on bed...a little disconcerting. Breakfast arrangements a bit confused and penny-pinching, (coffee OR orange-juice) but food ok. Apparently sub-contracted ?. Nothing. Everything perfect. Only one drink with breakfast - either coffee or juice - false economy, really put us off going again as the food was good and the hotel was pleasant. No lift and steep stairs for those with less mobility. Breakfast was disorganised and poor value for money. None. did not see disibility logo on site as my wife is disabiled and we had second floor room. and no ground floor room was available to move into. although staff say logo is on site. but over all not a major problem as we stayed the 3 nights. The bed was a little soft for my back. Too bad you couldn't adjust the temperature in the room, it was too warm for me. The stairs (no lift facility) were ok for young people but very difficult for the elderly. "Free parking at a location nearby" means on the road parking and this can be difficult on a Saturday afternoon in Bristol. Room very small. Difficult to park but the staff were very accommodating :). The STAIRS to the top floor were a pain. Its a pity that they are not allowed to install a lift. Only a small issue - the toilet seat in the shared bathroom was wobbly and the shower curtain was difficult to manouver. Shower arrangement over the bath under the pitched roof (top floor). The breakfast girl was clearly inexperienced, had to ask for everything some training issues evidently needed. But helpful when asked. I couldn't turn on the shower!. So many stairs (38 to our room and we are no spring chickens). Cramped bathroom entrance. Very squeaky doors!. Poor car parking facilities . Luckily I know the area fairly well so was able to park my car reasonably close by . Not much parking.. we were Lucky to get near hotel. The relative dullness of rooms (in contrast with the building's character). Shower set into the eaves so impossible to stand under. Should have been fitted at the other end of bath!!. I requested for a room facing St. Paul's Rd. but was given a room facing the back lane and ppen pub. I made my booking few weeks in advance.I expect request to be "planned for" by the hotel. Tq. Our room was on top floor with a lot of stairs . Not knowing we would pay a lot more for breakfast if we didn't book. We should have been told clearly when we arrived and we would have booked. Being woken at 2.30am by someone walking around on a wooden floor- continued for about 45 minutes. Limited hotel parking. Street parking is free but difficult to park close depending on arrival time. lack of parking a minor irritation, but not a lot the hotel can do about that. Noise of people outside the hotel over the road until early hours. Parking difficult, although there is no realsolution owing to its location.
