I had travelled 3 hours to attend a wedding and so found me somewhere to freshen up and get ready for the wedding as i arrived two hours before the agreed check in time!. They have smoking bedrooms.Wireless internet @ £5 for 24 hours, excellant.friendly staff, evening meal,area to sit and talk. Staff are excellent. The hotel receptionist was lovely, welcoming and friendly, and attended quickly and efficiently to every query, I hope you will convey this to her (on duty 10th and 11th Jan). The room was excellent, clean and warm. As well as booking 6 rooms, we also had a family party in the Isis suite with 90 guests. The facilities and buffet were very good. Covenient for getting into Cardiff where the Rugby League's Millenium Magic event was taking place that weekend. Able to enjoy leisure facilities. Cannot comment on evening meals as none taken but breakfast were adequate.Pleasant helpful Staff and good parking. They have a good sized swiming pool with a brand new Steam room. The staff were very friendly and most helpfull,the swimming pool sauna and steam room were excellent. Breakfast! We stay there whilst visiting relatives in Bridgend, so facilities don't matter to us. Very convenient for travel - near Motorway and major roads to Barry , Swansea, Neath etc. Staff very helpfull,politeandfriendly. The ensuite was a little tired - but for the price -still more than adequate, no Brains at the bar - a SW disappointment.had to wait for more food to be cooked at breakfast quite a long queue 2 of didn't bother to wait for the eggs nor mushrooms but everything else was good and a nice choice. The room I stayed in needed upgrading, I have stayed in far better rooms in the hotel.A lot of the waiting and bar staff were very inefficient, quite truculent attitudes and did not understand our bar orders etc - mostly being foreign workers. Bar drinks were wrongly made then they refused to substitute without extra payment. On the morning of departure, 5 of our party (in 3 rooms) were ordered, at 10.15am to leave the rooms by the room cleaner. Again, surly and foreign. Bed was hard and decore and furniture in rooms a bit dated. Limited choice of food in bar/room menu. the shower in my room was utterly unusable (ran off the taps) - in the end after 15 mins trying to get the right temperature or any flow of water i had to wash my hair under the taps might as well not have had one !. waitress coughing over food (but good response when I drew attention0. The hotel seemed a bit short staffed. The overpowering odour of chlorine from the pool when exiting your room for breakfast was a little overpowering, as was the noise in the evening from the gym regarding the ground floor rooms. lack of sound-proofing- noises from above and next-door rooms. Heating is too warm and this made things uncomfortable.The jaquzzi was out of use and there are building works in the pool area. the hotel in general was a little dated. mattress was extremely uncomfortable. bedroom door rattled everytime someone opened the main door to the corridor. Main areas a bit shabby. The rooms were very expensive - particulalry after research into neighbouring hotels. The price seemed to be at a premium, but the room was very basic. The swim pool was dated and shabby. The TV in the room was small. It was difficult to communicate requirements in the restaurant because none of the waiters/waitresses had a good command of English.The morning staff, although Welsh, did not seem to know how to serve breakfast.The hotel was of a good standard but the bed desperately needs to bereplaced. The springs in the mattress were digging into my back. I wouldhave been better off sleeping on the floor. In fact I spent most of thenext day asleep in the car because I had had no sleep what so everbecause of the bed in the hotel. I feel that I need to contact the hotelto tell them to change the bed. Distinct smell in the corridors. The hotel looks extremely "worn" and is in need of a major facelift. The condition of the room, lack of commitment when a problem wasreported, no attention paid to detail when a request was made. Noise, location, level of equipment in rooms, no lift, no heating for one full day (in February!), non-hotel guests presence in hotel facilities, etc. Bar prices. No lift. The bathroom, in particular, did not seem to be clean.Do not stay in this Hotel if you have the choice. It amazes me how such a large hotel can retain that cheap guest house feel right down to the nasty 10p sausage they serve at breakfast. The bed was awful and lumpy and they don't tell you anything about the fact that you can hear the trains go by either. The room had been partly refurbished in a very dated style. The bed was very old, uncomfortable and noisy. Black hairs all over the bathroom.the bed was uncomfortable and the food was cold and not very tasty.
