The staff and locals were very nice and friendly we didn't feel like strangers at all.
The Hotel wasn't anything special but worth what you pay. all reviews »
The staff were friendly and worked hard to please the guests and thelocation was excellent. In a very central location both in town and for touring the surrounding area. Most of it.played golf. we were there for hogmanay and it was perfect for what we were looking for, the dinner dance was good, the food was excellent but the entertainment was poor.Good location, public areas of the hotel (bar and restarant) are good, excellent value for money. staff were very friendly but sometimes did not know what they should be doing The food was good. Situated in the town, staff were friendly and clean, breakfast was great. Not a Hotel at all. It offers none of the benefits of a Hotel stay. Its a Guest House. The location. The guy at reception was helpful. At least there was hot water. my 83 year old mth had trouble with the steps/ parking a prob one night. My experience was good at the hotel but friends had booked the cheaper rooms in the annex which were not as good. These rooms were tired and also had been left with no heating on prior to arrival therefore were extremely cold initially. The hotel should be looking to upgrade these rooms.Bar closed at 2230hrs. Tired decor and no hairdryer in room. The room was rather dated but I would stress very clean. The decor wasn't that good and the tv was very old. Breakfast was okbut not brilliant. Overall though, I think the price was fair forwhat we got. I was missing handrails alnng the walls in the staircase.bit noisey from the bar at night. There was no lift as we are pensioners and our room was on the secondfloor it took alot out of us and my wife was just out of hospital so wewere disapointed. Rooms are a little tired. Gentleman on reception could have been more helpful and pleasant (ironically he should have read the sign behind him about smiling!). Breakfast staff were very good, but looked stressed. no smoking in rooms steep stairs to climb to rooms. A little tired in the decoration. There were no hair blow dryers nor shower caps in the rooms, i paid for superior rooms and they were not as i expected it to be. There was not anything special about the room. Not a Hotel at all. It offers none of the benefits of a Hotel stay. Its a Guest House. You have to ring a number to get in after 12.30. It was like going back in time. Not in a nostalgic way, but the facilities were very antiquated: TV, plumbing, decor. Mercifully, and surprisingly, no nylon sheets. Very noisy pub and disco below room. I've stayed in 5* hotels for less money. Really. The room was very tired looking, and the bed was so soft that it was impossible for two normal sized people to sleep in.
