The owners of the hotel/guest house and their family were very friendly. Accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable with quality toiletries in the bathroom. There were extras in the rooms such as towelling robes, slippers, soft drinks, bottled water, crisps, biscuits, tea, coffee, (complimentary). Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and their staff. 3 of us were in Birmingham for a concert and were close to the LG Arena. We booked a single room and a double room for 1 night.The .
all reviews » Cannot fault this hotel. Very home from home. Set in a quiet location on the edge of a housing estate with a park/nature reserve to the side. Great owners who were very welcoming and attentive and who couldn't do enough for us. Hotel has nice touches such as the complimentary mini bar. Lovely room and good breakfast to start the day. Close to NEC,10 to 15 minutes walk to/from the local station and 4 minutes on the train to Birmingham International. Thanks again for a great stay. Will stay again. Pleasant to stay in for a short purpose with a quiet and adequate location, close to both the railway station and airport. Breakfast was of a reasonable quality. The room I stayed in was clean and warm with nice soothing energy surrounding the place. It meets the B&B purpose perfectly making it one of the best ones Ive been. I would recommend the place to anyone staying for a short elegant quiet purpose. I stayed at Arden House with my 9 year old daughter who I was taking to see One Direction at the LG Arena. The proprietor was so lovely and very helpful printing out tickets for me, finding out what time they were on and arranging taxi's. We felt very welcomed, very comfortable and would definitely choose this guest house again if needing to stay over after a local concert. After all the arena is less than 3 miles away. As a small B&B it was nice and quiet, the owners were helpful & organised taxis that were very well priced. The breakfast wasn't organic and the tea (green) could of been improved dramatically. Bed was a bit hard for myself and my daughter and would have loved some pork sausages and some bacon for breakfast however I understand the reasons why they are not available. Shower was not the most powerful. nothing. It's a bit out of the way on a housing estate so the nearest facilities are a 10-15 minute walk away. minor issue - throw cushions were a bit worn out, and the sink in the bathroom was at an awkward height. These were very minor issues and would not keep me from staying again. My only criticism would be as a non smoker I could smell previous occupants smoke. I know it is difficult in a small establishment but it would be nice to have non smoking bedrooms. A bit difficult to find. Tiny towels and lack of pressure in the shower !. Nothing!. Bed a little hard but appreciate many people prefer this. Hotel is in residental area. Nothing. Nothing to dislike. The only negative was that the mattress was too firm for us. Nothing. Bed, mattress was quite thin. Distance from nec is not 500m, but an extremely uncomfortable 6,5 miles costing between 6 and 12 pounds per trip. Dinner is another taxi ride away and adds some 12-15 pounds to the dinner costs plus inconvenience. An English breakafast without bacon????. Heating too high. Not VAT registered so will have trouble claiming back. This is just a detached hpuse on a housing estate and so feels more like staying over at someone's house. Quite noisy due to thin walls. I booked this by accident and thought I was booking the Arden Hotel not Arden House. I was therefore disappointed by the lack of restaurant, bar, location next to the NEC, size of the rooms, lack of public facilities and the price. I paid £89 for a very basic B&B and still had to pay for a taxi to the NEC.
