The staff were welcoming and helpful. its position is very good...almost close to the cecntre of Bath but also walking distance from it. parking and ease of use although i cannot understand why you do not take solo!. They did not have enough staff working for the number of guests they had.it took nearly 40 mins to check in. no fried breakfast.The breakfast could be improved. I would prefer a bigger common area and a bar opened for more hours. We had to ask for extra towels and to have the room cleaned on a dailybasis. They were ver accommodating when asked though. No face clothswere included with the towels. The beds were very small and not very comfortable.the beds were very soft. staff could have been friendlier. Room was only prepared for two persons in terms of refreshments when it was clear that three persons were booked to stay. Also the tv monitor said 'welcome Mr and Ms * ' - what an assumption and very insensitive following a recent divorce from Mr *! It was a Mom and two daughters who were staying. Shows lack of personal care. Waiting to register because the computer system was down.no hot food in breakfast or nobody told us. The air conditioning in the bar/restaurant area - either the fans areset too high or the direction vents are at the wrong angle. Check theside curtains when the system is on to see the effect...the draught isvery uncomfortable. I informed reception, who kindly switched it off,but then someone else switched it back on five minutes later. I justgave up and left the area.didn't realise it was so far from town centre - it was a bit more of a walk than I would have wanted. Nowhere to eat in the hotel and very limited choice of places within walking distance. Beds are not good. to old materas. Ercondition should bee somware dawn and not directly over the bed.The girl on reception was surly, the breakfast was poor and it was expensive for what you got. The bed was worn out and uncomfortable- big dip in the middle.You can do a lot better than this.The 2nd bed was a temporary bed. No cooked breakfast, no bath, tv very expensive. The prices for drinks at the bar and also cold drinks from their shop were extortionate! £1.50 for a small bottle of water! £18 for 4 drinks at the bar! Very disappointing. The sofa bed is not comfortable for sleeping. It made me have backache after sleeping in it for a night.The bed was very uncomfortable, the noise outside the room was appaling at 4pm in the morning and the breakfast facilities were terrible. we expected a non-smoking room but the hotel arranged for us a smoking room. The hotel staff explained to us that we booked the room through a third party and a non-smoking room was prefered not a must! Moreover the staff said we should book through Express By Holiday Inn's website, not through third party's website. Your website should inform them clearly whether it is a must for non-smoking room.

Travelling information

By Car (from the M4):
- Leave the M4 at junction 18 and follow the A46 for 10 miles.
- Branch off the A46 and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit signposted A4 (London Road).
- Turn right at the end of London Road and join the A36 Cleveland Place.
- At the lights stay in the right hand lane and turn right onto Sydney Place.
- Take the 3rd turning on the right onto Darlington Street (A36).
- At the roundabout take the 2nd exit (strait on) onto Pulteney Road (A36).
- At the lights go straight on.
- At the roundabout take the 2nd turning (lower Bristol Road A36).
- At the roundabout take the 1st exit and stay in the right hand lane marked local.
- At the lights turn left and the hotel entrance is immediately on your left.

Direction from Bristol:
- Take the A4 towards Bath for approximately 9 miles; this will take you through Saltford.
- Approximately 2 miles after Saltford, you will meet a roundabout with the Globe public house on your right.
- Continue straight on towards Bath, at the end of the dual carriageway fork right on the A36 (A4) towards Bath.
- Continue on along this road for approximately 2 miles passing the gas towers on your left.
- Continue through one set of traffic lights, at the 2nd set of traffic lights just before Sainsbury’s garage turn right into Brougham Hayes, the hotel is on your left.

By Rail:
- Bath Spa railway station is only one mile from the hotel.
- It is 80 minutes journey time from London Paddington. Bath also has direct links to Bristol, Cardiff, Salisbury and Southampton.
