I spent 2 nights in Beechfield Guesthouse recently and it was absolutely terrific. As soon as I arrived I met Lindsey and she told me that she would be on duty during my stay and that she was there to help me in any possible way. She's a really lovely, friendly and chatty person. She said that it was the policy of the Guesthouse to take payment when the guest arrived. She told me that I could pay by cash or card. Then she escorted me to my room. It was value for money and I would stay there again if I had to visit Ballymena. The breakfasts were superb.All in all we had a great three nights at Beechfield guesthouse and I would recommend it to anyone. While we were there it was completely booked out so what does that tell you about the quality and satisfaction of ot. The guesthouse was very close to Galgorm Manor where we were attending a wedding. The guesthouse is comfortable and the staff are all very friendly. The facilities were very good and there was even a bar where we were able to meet friends for drinks before we left for Galgorm. Breakfast was excellent - fruit, juice, cereal and of course a full Irish breakfast. All in all a very comfortable place to stay and very good value for money. Great service, all staff were very friendly. We stayed here for two nights as we were attending a wedding in Galgorm Manor, taxi £5.50 during the day and £6.00 at night with a 24 hour service. Good location if you do not want to pay the expensive prices in Galgorm. Our host Trevor was really friendly and forthcoming. He showed us all the good places for eating/ice cream/shopping and the tourist information center on a map which he gave to us. He even lent us an adapter for our hair dryer/mobil phone as I packed the wrong one. Very polite staff, Trevor dealt with us very efficiently. We were in the sister house beside Beechfield, which was nice and clean but showing sign of wear. Breakfast was nice, full cooked breakfast. Would use again, certainly worth the money. When we got the the man that booked us in was very helpfull he seen I had cruches and he relocated us to a ground floor room which was very good of him as I did not say when booking. Friendly staff but when we went to check in (on a friday) we were told initially that they havent received our confirmation from letsbookhotel.com yet. He couldn't find it in the book so I looked and they had us down to stay on the Saturday night instead! I had the confirmation emails on my phone which clearly showed it was booked for the Friday! I suppose if I had to find some little fault I would say that there was some noise of street traffic and this was probably due to the fact that the windows are single glazing. Even though there was a settee in the room, a chair would have been nice so that one could work on a laptop etc. Our room was on the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. While that didn´t pose a problem for us, older people or persons who have a problem with stairs should probably ask for a room on the ground floor. No wi-fi in our house. Nothing. The room we went to the living part had a little damp in it room could do with a lick of paint other wise it was great. There was nothing I didnt like about the Beechfield. The room and bathroom were a bit run down and were in need of some work and a good cleaning. Accomodation spread over two houses -plus apartments. (I was booked in a Double Room -On booking com, expecting to be in the house, but there seemed to be some confusion or misunderstanding somewhere. I was put in an Apartment. Slightly disappointed that the Apartment did not have a television -but it did have everything else!!). People in the room were very noisy late at night and around 4:30am in the morning, no one manning reception to complain to. Other than that, great break. the tv wasnt workin. Leaving to go to Dublin!. No Gym, The breakfast has only 1 sausage and 1 piece of bacon. There was no hot water in the the bathroom sink. Bathrooms need revamp,both rooms hired had issues with shower cubicle & toilet seat worn.First two days no hand wash available in rooms. bathroom door that didn't shut properly. Nothing. the lock in the bathroom was hard to open and we notified the staff about it. they were very apologetic and said that the would look into it. nothing. the loose taps on the wash basin, but in fairness I didn't mention this at the time. no smoking room. No complaints. old fashioned style, creaking floorboards. two o.a.p. in an attic room (3rd floor), we did not like. There was not a working T.V. The Goggle map was horrible and we spent 45 minutes trying to find it.... clean. Nothing. Would have liked to have been offered breakfast a little earlier than 830 as had an early start so only had time for coffee but still paid the same as if breakfast included. The only problem I found is that the room's setup did not make it warm. The damp smell in the bathroom. Furnishings and furniture very dated. Nothing, but we were only looking bed and breakfast. Fixtures and hardware needed attention; WiFi only in lobby. Rooms very basic but cheap and cheerful. Could do with more thorough clean throughout building. Bit grubby.
