It was a perfect place for a stopover between St. Andrews and Edinburgh, or a less expensive alternative to St. Andrews' hotels. The staff and accommodations were very good. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was tasty and enjoyable. We enjoyed a relaxing time in the pub adjacent to the hotel. Before settling in for the evening we walked down to the most picturesque fishing village and regretted not eating at the UK's best fish and chip shop. We were fortunate to have a parking.
all reviews » For the cost of the accommodation, this hotel is a bargain. We thought it was as nice a place as a 5 star. The staff was great, especially Josh. The food in the restaurant, we ate all 3 meals there and were satisfied with all. We can't say enough positive. In addition, the location was perfect to walk on the costal trail and travel to St. Andrews. There is no available parking, but we had no problem finding something on the street. We were impressed by almost every aspect of our stay - our room was furnished beautifully, the bathroom was spacious and luxurious, breakfast was generous and well-presented,and the views of the harbour from our room, especially in the early morning, were superb. The hiotel and bar staff were helpful, attentive and made us feel very welcome. We thought the place was a real find. Loved the modern room, such a great use of space. The location is perfect, really close to the harbour which is gorgeous. Loved the residents garden out back with its own walk-way to the beach. Very impressed to have full Sky in the room too. Bathroom huge and gorgeous. Breakfast delicious. Great to have a fridge in the room with complimentary water. From the minute we booked in everything was perfect! Situation close to the centre of Anstruther Would recommend the hotel for the rooms alone but would stress the lack of good parking. We liked the location in a small coastal fishing village where the sea and skies were beautiful and the view from our room captured it all! The portion of the Fife Coastal Path between Anstruther and Criel was exceptionally enjoyable and lovely!. Staff great, rooms fantastic, dinner good, breakfast a must and we agree with all the positive comments posted regarding the bar and the atmosphere. Watched the rugby and footy, complete with pies at half time, brilliant. We'll be back!. The staff were excellent as was the location. The room and hotel in general was clean with excellent decor. The bathroom especially was fabulous. The only food we had in the hotel was breakfast and it was delicious both mornings. Room superb Food choice, quality and value - excellent. The hotel was wonderfully located in the centre of Anstruther overlooking the water. Our room was huge and, in fact, we had two rooms. The hotel was beautifully kept and stylishly designed. We had the large family room for the two of us. It was very big. The room had everything needed, was modern and had views to the beach from the second bedroom. Great value for money. Room 1 had the most amazing view. I had requested a room with a sea view and I was not dissapointed. Staff were extremely friendly and rooms were of a very high standard. Will be back. The room was spacious with windows opening to views of the harbor and sea. The bathroom was enormous with lovely supplies. The bed was huge. Sam the manager was extremely helpful. We stayed in room 8 and the bed was not comfortable. I sat on the bed and immediately fell into a dip, new mattress required for certain, and for maintanence, remember to flip them now and again! Although I really liked it, for this price I would have expected an iron and ironing board in the room, ice machine available in the corridor and additional pillows/bedding. But this being said, it was a lovely place to stay, and if I see a cheaper night to stay we will definitely be back!!!. Absolutely nothing to dislike!. I really loved it, so... these are only tiny details: more coat hangers in wardrobe please; coat hooks on back of doors would be a good idea too. Marmalade at breakfast, please! Oh and plain yogurt too!. Very poor facilities for car parking including having to run the gauntlet unloading/loading the car on double yellow lines outside the hotel. The room we were in was at the front and was noisy late on. No one on site purely for the hotel. All communications were with the bar staff next door to the hotel. Parking a bit of a pain, minor complaint really since parking was free at the harbour and you can park outside the Bank to unload/load up when leaving. Saying that, an impatient local (shop owner van) clipped my wing mirror as we were just ready to leave and didn't bother stopping to see if it had been damaged!. The bed seemed to be two joined together with a hard ridge in the middle, The mattress did nothing to soften this. There was a lovely little patio just outside our window but if we used the back door to access this then we could only return through the public bar. We would have liked to be able to open the back door from the outside. Absolutely nothing apart form leaving!!. I think our Room (No. 8) was below the pub's kitchen or a corridor in the pub. Meant it was noisey with footsteps overhead until late and then early in the morning. Earplugs def needed. (Luckily I found some). nothing we liked everything. The pillows were rather synthetic and the sausages were sub-standard but these are very minor criticisms as otherwise I thought the whole experience at The Bank was fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone. There was nothing I did not like. Everything was of a high standard. No car park. But that said, parking was only a 3 minute walk away. Breakfast and reception are next door in bar. lack of parking, but there is some facilities nearby. If you are keen on a quiet nights sleep - ask to be away from the bar as the noise does continue quite late at the weekends. When we arrived I was very disappointed that we didn't get the sea view we requested. As the room was very nice and it was only a 2 night stay we decided it would be alright. However the noise from the road works and delivery vehicles at shop across the way from 5.00a.M. soon changed our minds. So we asked to have our room changed and got exactly what we had requested in the first place. Only other complaint is lack of car park. No parking. The streets are narrow in Anstruther and where the hotel is situated, parking is difficult. We parked in a public car park not too far away. The dining room lacked atmosphere but a new extension is in the process of being built which will make it very attractive. No official parking. That I could only stay one night. Wish I had planned for a longer stay. nada all good. Not having access from the bar to the hotel - having to go outside to come back in through another door. Unfortunately this time there were temporary traffic lights outside which made it noisy. Double glazing would help with road and bar noise. Nothing...loved it all... Pillows were uncomfortable. Nothing!. Notng. Nothing. Sky wasnt working and i couldnt figure out how to use the wifi. Access was by a very narrow road with parking on one side. Wifi was inoperable, but a very temporary situation. No complaints about any aspect of our stay. The dining-room was not a match for the rooms. (Renovations pending perhaps.). No parking at hotel. My room wasn't ready until 3.30pm the day I arrived - this held up people coming to collect me for an evening out- I'd travelled for four hours. The advert stated 2pm,room available. A bit noisy at night when people were leaving the bar. Room 8 directly below busy bar & dining room. Kept awake until bar closed 1am then woken again before 6am when breakfast preparation started. Nothing. The weather. Can't book that. Parking.
