The self-check-in Swiss Star West End is located in the trendy Sihlfeld district, 3 km from the centre of Zurich. It offers rooms with a flat-screen satellite TV and free Wi-Fi.
The modern rooms all have beautiful wooden floors. Each room has a private bathroom with toiletries.
Tram and bus stops can be reached in a short walk. The city centre is a 10-minute tram ride away.

valuable price considering it is in Switzerland. It has a public kitchen in each floor (actually only 3 rooms per floor). Fortunately the other 2 room guests don't use the kitchen, so the kitchen turn to be ours. about 7-8 mins to walk to the bus station, not an easy work for the first trial to catch the bus to the city center, but much easier after that. good and comfortable bed and bath room. since the hotel only has two parking space, you need to get the hotel earlier, otherwise, you may nee. all reviews
Our stay at Guesthouse Weststrasse was fine. We had no problems finding
it nor checking in. The key code was emailed prior to arriving and it
worked fine for accessing the key from the key box. It was in a good
location, close enough to town to walk, we walked everywhere, it was
easy. Its also close to the tram line too. Room again was fine, nothing
flashy but it was clean.
For me the system with an electronic key and absence of the reception was absolutely fine. The hotel is pretty and clean. The area around is nice. We had a nice walk from the hotel to the Zurich lake and than to the Central Station. There is also a tram nearby to go to the Central Station.
The rate for a twin room was a bargain comparing to other Zurich hotels.
We stayed two nights and the room was properly cleaned during the stay - bed was re-made and towels were changed.
There are two free parking lots on the side of the building.
The room had an iron and an iron board.
I didn't see any hotel employee during my whole stay! The hotel has an automatic key dispatcher. I needed to enter the last 5 digits of my letsbookhotel.com booking and got the keys. That was really fantastic.
Location was good for the price. Very close to Weidikon Train Station and a short tram ride from the main station. Room was clean and well equipped - had an iron and ironing board and a hair dryer.

The price was incredible. The room was very nice. There were
supermarkets and places to eat nearby as well as easy access to public
transportation.
The automatic key disposer was nice. Did not see any staff as all self arranged, not sure what to do if I would lose my key though.
There was easy access in and out of the hotel. Checking in was a breeze. There was everything we needed in there!.
Arrived at midnight and the pin code did not work. Was quickly given
another one by phone.

I loved the check in and out without seeing any staff.. it was nicely clean and neat.. parking was not a problem.. as two parking lots are reserved for the hotel guests.. but u have to be lucky to get it.. otherwise u have to pay for public parking lots which is expensive and not available...
The room is huge with enough space for everything and even a big mirror on the wall. The best part - possibility to make a tea or coffee.
It is a good accomodation for reasonable price and normal location.
Location and access to the apartment key was easy as there was late checkin and no reception.

One of best prices I found in Zürich (but too expensive for most of other cities). Near to train and tram stations.
Even though we stated that two people were arriving there was only one little pillow and blanket. We requested an additional of both which wasn´t granted until the last day. No soap was available. We requested a free parking slot and no reply was given.

Early checkin was possible (By an hour).
No lift, but it's not that uncommon in Europe. We specifically
booked this over others as it said the room had a fan and seeing as
their is no aircon we wanted the fan, however no fan was provided so the
room was quite stuffy.
The free public transportation card, which is usually available at hotels in Switzerland, was missing.
Free parking on site has only two lots, when we arrived in the evening, only one was available.
The parking near the hotel is problematic. There is a blue zone parking on the street, which is like 2 hours only and there is no way to pay for more. The parking which belongs to the hotel is super tiny (for 2 cars only). Besides, the hotel doesn't have a lift.
I dont like the lack of a reception - Didn't see any staff while I was there but on the one occasion where I misplaced my key I called the emergency number and while i had to wait on the phone for ages once it was answered someone arrived within 15 mins and I had a replacement key delivered the following day so not really a negative.

The staff...there was none. A cleaning lady helped me understand a
little bit. But still wasn't completely sure about the check-out
process but it wasn't a big deal.
There was no AC and it's a bit of a walk to the city center.
After checking out, and after the city tour, coming back towards the
hotel to pick up my car, saw two guys who have just arrived from over
the Atlantic and were struggling with the wrong pin code... Looks like
it is the system, and if your phone does not work you may have major
trouble getting into your room :(.
Everything below top floor is noisy, wooden floor squeaks badly,
room noise.
Lack of information on how to get in. Had to call several time in
roaming for figuring this out.
Bathroom didn't have any floor trap.. so water almost flooded inside.. don't know why but maybe its a makeshift hotel..
Bathroom is very small but good enough, smell from smoking people outside came into room so eventually bedlinnen smelled like cigarettes.
And on leaving day the cleaning lady came exactly at 10:00. :-).
the kitchen was really dirty... no cleaning.
No cleaning in 5 days, don't change the towels, little noisy.

Getting in was a pain. They did not put in the key until we called and
wanted us to wait til 3pm. A girl agreed to meet usa after I pleaded but
refused to stay one minute to make sure I got the key ok. The bath is
very small and the slanted ceiling was a hazard.
Be careful if you go by car! There are only 2 parking spaces next to the house and if they are occupied already there is no space where to park. The whole area is blue zone with max 1h parking. If you are able to find place ...

Instructions on accessing the key in the lock box were incorrect. Had to go to the main hotel which was blocks away unattended. Then was instructed to enter 4 digits to get key from box instead to 5 digits as instructed on sign.
Code for Wi-Fi access is located on the internal side of entrance door (from street to hotel). How to find it there? No elevator in the hotel.
No instraction how to get the key onsite.
