Spending the night in a prison in a cell is a bit unusual - and slightly exciting, knowing you won't be there for ever! Great for people into minimalism/ austerity. Maybe not as great if you are claustrophobic!.

value for monery, easy to reach, well indicated, walkable distances, central location, good breakfast formula with Restaurang Gotenberg, design, quiet, clean, well-serviced.
Gamla Fängelset was perfect for my needs. Centrally located, simple but comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, also at Cafe Göteborg next door.

- My Time magazine slid off the bed mattress and down the crack between the woodwork. Now it's imprisoned there forever. And I thought the place was no longer a prison. Maybe there are all sorts of valuables in there - might be worth checking!
- I usually visit Umeå once a year, this year I would give the city a huge minus for tidiness. It's been a long time since I saw so much rubbish on the streets and in the parks.

Very few shower stalls, no soap in the shower stall.
Poor information about check-in on weekends (it´s in the restaurant next door) and opening hours. It wasn´t easy to find a number where someone answered when the reservation was made friday afternoon and my stay was on sunday. The feeling that I slept in a room where someone probably had been feeling bad about beeing..
For the extra fee, breakfast selection is very small and not worth it.
