The unique Caro Hotel is housed in a 19th-century palace in central Valencia, just 200 metres from Valencia Cathedral. Combining historical features with modern design, it has an outdoor pool open all year round. Designed by Francesc Rifé, each of the elegant rooms in the Caro is totally individual, with exquisite touches of minimalist design. All have a flat-screen satellite TV, air-conditioning and a free minibar. The bathrooms include Bvlgari toiletries, a bathrobe and slippers. The hotel’s Sucede restaurant serves traditional Mediterranean food with a modern twist. There is also a bar with a quiet terrace, where you can enjoy a drink in the sun. Gluten-free menus are also available on prior request. Architecturally unique, parts of Caro Hotel date from up to 2000 years ago. Original features include a 2nd-century Roman mosaic, part of the 13th-century Arabic city walls and Gothic arches. The façade dates from the 19th century. Plaza de la Virgen and Valencia's basilica are within 5 minutes’ walk of the hotel. La Lonja de la Seda, the medieval market and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a 10-minute walk away.

The staff were all excellent in their helpfulness and attention to requests. Hotel is in a good location for old town sightseeing. Hotel is a converted palace, and though design is very modern, older details have been preserved. Guest rooms are a little dark in the evenings due to few light sources. Apparently the restaurant is very good, but it is closed Sun-Mon-Tues so there was no chance for me to eat there. The breakfast is expensive but a typical price in such a hotel. The Caro hotel is centrally located near to the cathedral and with easy walking distance of many of the attractions of Valencia. It is clean, modern, well appointed and with staff who are both efficient and friendly. The superior grade room we had was delightful, both well appointed and roomy. A beautiful restored palace with interesting excavations. The staff are very helpful, especially the young man at breakfast. When we complained that we did not like the room, we were tranfered to another one on the 1st floor, which was much nicer. There is a school right behind the hotel, so if you want to rest in the afternoon it's rather loud because of the school's basketball court and playground. Furniture is not practical. Furniure looks very nice and handsome, but desk and night table are too small and wobbly and unstable. Driving to the hotel in the middle of La Fallas festival was an experience!. Small bath, just for kids, but there is shower also present Too expensive breakfast for its quality, no beer in minibars. لا شيء يذكر. No English language tv channels. The lighting in the rooms. Bath tubes need non slip mats, had hotel order early morning taxi to airport and was not advised there would be a return fee added to meter reading, need better location of lights in room 2 at least!. Receptionist could have had better knowledge of places to eat...! Otherwise all was good!. Only negative was terrace bar under reconstruction. Nothing. The staff could've been a bit friendlier and several times we had to wait quite a while at the bar for anyone to come and serve us. Not enough lighting in the room. Minimalist in the extreme - didn't really work for us! Stark dark room (36)- it felt a bit like a prison cell. Lighting was not great. Looked a bit like they ran out of money and couldnt quite finish it off. Also shower ( which leaked) without ventilation or fan so damp smell. The main chandelier light bulb was broken and had not been replaced. the shower was without shelter, thus flooded the bathroom.
