A very pleasant surprise. Comfortable room with modern conveniences, nice lobby, interesting refurbishment of an old convent, good dining room, all in a small town in the Ribera del Duero wine region of Spain. Very peaceful calm atmosphere - the Spa was very well equipped .Staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The surrounding area is not beautiful but of interest to wine lovers.

Information about the area

Penafiel is located in the heart of the Ribera Del Duero wine region. During your stay a trip to the Medieval Castle/Valladolid Wine Museum is well worth it. You can also visit stunning interesting monuments such as the Santa Mª de Valbuena Monastery, Santa Mª de Retuerta Abbey or the Pintia Archaeology Museum.

The area is also fantastic for outdoor pursuits. The picturesque Cuco Valley is a fantastic backdrop for walking and there are a number of footpaths. The Duero footpath is also highly recommended for walkers.

Not forgetting that there are a number of wineries that open for visits and wine tasting!
