This spectacular monastery in Guadalupe, Extremadura, offers atmospheric rooms and wonderful Gothic architecture. Combining a peaceful location with modern interiors, the air-conditioned rooms have a flat-screen satellite TV and a private bathroom. All rooms in the Hospederia del Real Monasterio have heating and free wired internet access. Some have views of the Sierra de Guadalupe Mountain Range. Most rooms have high ceilings, and some have original stone walls. The restaurant serves classic Extremaduran dishes, including ‘migas’, lamb and roast kid. The bar, located in the cloister, has a terrace with plants, and serves tapas. Gluten-free menus are available on prior request. Reception will be very happy to offer advice on local sights and walks. There is free on-site parking.

the location within the monastery is wonderful, and so atmospheric. The rooms are huge, well-furnished and comfortable. We travelled in April, and in the mountains the evenings are still quite cool, so it was lovely to have the heating on. The setting for the hospederia is stunning and very memorable. The staff were friendly and efficient. The monastery is really atmospheric. It was more comfortable than I had expected, We arrived on a rather cold day in May, but once we turned the heating on in our room you could not complain and it was lovely and warm in the breakfast room/dining room. We had an excellent 3 course evening meal with wine for 17 euros each.
all reviews » A lot of people who come to this small town will do so because of the Monastery and shrine. Well you can't get much closer than staying in the adjoining building. Very opulent and historic. Ridiculous value for money to stay in this stunning building. God knows what it would cost in England. We stayed at the Hospederia for two nights. A fascinating old building very well converted into an hotel. Very quiet, excellent, helpful staff. Well above it's 2star rating. A delight. No complaints at all. Highly recommended. The old building, part of the monastery, my simple but confortable room opening on the gothic cloister. Nice people at the reception and in the restaurant. Good restaurant too. And parking in front of the door !. Would recommend very good value for money especially on Sunday night. Good breakfast but apart from Monastery next door you are out on a limb about 1 hour from anywhere else. Trujillo well worth visisting. We had a great stay here in La Rioja, the staff were very helpful and Jesus provided an interesting tour of the vineyard plus a good tasting. The breakfast ladies were great and helpful/friendly. We have stayed here before and have always found it to be delightful with friendly and helpful staff and good value for money. Well located, the building as such. it was all lovely. Not just a criticism of this place but of a lot of hotels that we've booked through letsbookhotel.com. We request a double bed. Often its we're actually asked to do this by the drop down box. We request a double, even putting it in the special request box as well but often end up with Twins and i just wonder if half of the places bother reading the request. We ended up with twins here and very hard one's at that. Reall pity because the place is amazing. When we arrived at 1pm to check in the receptionist took about 20 minutes to find out if our rooms were ready and was unaware that we had booked two rooms via internet, despite my telling her in Spanish that this was the case. Fortunately, checking out turned out to be much easier. The reception area appears to be badly laid out, with work areas scattered throughout the large room. nothing everything was wonderful. Thought that the breakfast was a bit disorganised, sometimes there was cooked meats and eggs sometimes not, but generally good. Climbing so many steps to reach the front door! But there is parking by the entrance if you arrive by car. Guadalupe was a rather gloomy place. The bar was rigid in enforcing its hours. Tough to get on line here. Room was poorly lit, hard to read. Nothing. The room supplied was not strictly as described - it did not have views of the courtyard nor did it have free wired internet. The room was adequate but small and a little out-dated. not really anything. We found the staff at check-in to be less than helpful. The porter showing us to our room was the only staff member who was friendly & helpful. When we went to the concierge to obtain information on the sites to see. He saw that we were standing at his counter - gave us a look of disdain & then walked away from us. No one even told us at what time breakfast was served and where it was served. We have never in our 18 years of Europe travel ever had such a bad experience. No breakfast before 8..30. Meal at night not before 9pm. desk staff some were very helpful early check out 8.10 for MADRID bus very grumpy. Very old fashion in all aspects.
