Great location! The hotel is in the village, situated high above the more urban, beach community of Benalmádena. It's easily accessed from the highway, but driving up from the coast is little more challenging. The hotel staff, particularly Navita at reception, was amazing! They were so friendly and helpful! Our double room "with sea view" had stunning views of the ocean and town! There is on- site, free, gated parking, but it's easier to check in first and get directions/instructions. WiFi even.
all reviews » Hotel La Fonda is situated just off Plaza Espana in Benalmadena Pueblo. There are several excellent restaurants near by and no shortage of good places to eat. Transport from Malaga Airport is easy by taking the Fuengirola train to Benalmadena and then the 121 Mijas bus to the Pueblo. The hotel is about 400 metres from the bus stop. The hotel is part of the Commune catering and hotel school thus enjoying very good service and comfort. For a treat do not miss lunch in the restaurant (fixed price . Lovely hotel in the old Pueblo part of Benalmadena. Bit hilly and too far to walk to the beach - over an hour downhill. Take the bus for 3 euros. Our room had a faulty door lock which the staff fixed the next day. Very friendly staff and we had free use of room safe as lock was faulty. Room had super power shower - very refreshing! Small plunge pool at hotel for hot days and sunbathing terrace area on top floor. Loved the way the chef would personalise your breakfast order for you. If you want . Charismatic hotel, with great level of finish. Fantastic breakfast on a terrace with a beautiful view and friendly staff. Lovely inner courtyard with fountain. Convenient for Malaga airport at ~15-20 min drive. Nice to be set back from the coast and high rise hotels (you do need a car to get there and to/from the beach). Set in a 'village area' of traditional white-wash houses close to a small square with a couple of nice cafe/restaurants. I loved everything about this hotel, from the beautiful design to the helpfulness of the staff. Everything in the room was of a very high quality, from the toiletries in the bathroom, to the design of the room, to the fluffy white towels and high thread count sheets. Location was superb just off Plaza de Espana in the Pueblo, where there were some very nice restaurants and bars. Easy access to the marina/beach by taxi for 10 euros. As others have said, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful while not being overwhelming. Location is great, 30secs from a beautiful square which houses four restaurants/bars and five mins walk to plenty more. Peaceful but facilities nearby although not one for families with small kids or those wanting to go clubbing! Will certainly be back!!!. La Fonda was recommended to me by a friend and I would happily do the same to anyone else. Everything! A beautiful hotel with gorgeous views from the terraces. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. We had a vegetarian with us and they loved the breakfast. In fact you could eat something different for every day of a week's stay. the hotel was gorgeous, the surroundings are perfect if you want a relaxed quiet break. The street did not show up on our TomTom (there is a similarly named street near the beach), but GoogleMaps found the correct address. The reservation print-out conveniently included the latitude and longitude, which I had to plug directly into our gps. Nothing. Restaurant is a bit canteen-ish, nice views from terrace though and food was really good quality. Not that many bars open after 11pm at night locally, so if you want nightlife, taxi into town. Cost is 10 euros each way. Nothing. Perhaps a few more parking spaces. Might be an issue in high season. a bit too complicated to find at first time, but after the explanation from the reception we had no problems. Nothing. Nothing:-). I would really have liked it if they had a small fitness centre. Shower heads. the swimming pool was extremely cold on all occasions I tried to swim some solar panels would be a great idea. The bed should have a top-madrass - it was a bit hard, and the pillow as well. I would not recommend this area for families with pushchairs or people in wheelchairs as it is very hilly and cobbled in places. nothing. Nothing, everything was perfect. Nothing at all. Only that drinks were not served on the rooftop sunbathing terrace but we were able to get drinks from the Cookery School which was adjacent to the hotel. It doesn't really have a vibrant bar of its own (it does have a bar, but it feels more like an afterthought), but that's no big hardship because there are so many great restaurants and bars within a stone's throw of the front door. Didn't dislike anthing. Only a few sun beds. Unfortunately the weather was not great lol!!!!! Everything was great. Disappointed that the cooking school was closed for the summer. A little difficult to find the parking if you arrive by car. Nothing... Trying to find it was a nightmare. Suggest more attention paid to informing GPS providers with up-to-date information. Most of the dislikes are minor: No coffee or tea making facilities in rooms, directions to hotel's secure car park, but, once found, was good. It took two of us 15 minutes to find it. A sign at the entrance would be good. Shampoo and body wash supplied were rubbish. They were so thin they ran out of your hand before they could be applied. We would have liked a double in our room,as opposed to 2 singles pushed together.. seriously, for the money I couldn't fault it. Nothing. Nothing to dislike. Door bell and phone ringing was too loud at reception and disturbed sleeping a bit. Nothing. Does take so finding. car parking arrangements more uncertain than hotel would have you believe. - the "sea view" includes an iron grid between us and sea even on the second floor - the door letting in guests from the parking place speaks too loud just below of our sea view window.
