The Marula Lodge was perfectly positioned for an overnight stop on way to Knysna. We arrived at lunchtime and our room was ready which was a bonus as it was a scorching day. Friendly welcome from the owners; nice room with large bathroom; decent breakfast. Great pool and gardens Safe - with onsite parking. Good restaurant next door too. I would highly recommend. The staff was totally friendly, they gave us a lot of tips what to do and were to go for diner. we could use any kitchen facilities to prepare our own diner on the terrace and the pool as well as the whole garden is absolutely beautiful!.
all reviews » Very nice room in a large house with lovely gardens and a pool. Next door to a very good restaurant and in ambling distance from the centre of town. Very close to the Faeries as well. Can really recommend this venue. The rooms were located around the pool area. Garden was well kept and beautiful. Pleasant helpful hosts who were on the site and accessible who shared local knowledge. Choice of inside or outside dinning areas. Charming hostess, spacious rooms, peaceful garden. Everything very clean and efficient. A blend of English and Continental breakfasts served outside. Well situated for visit to Drosty museum. Staff was very friendly and prepared us a delicious breakfast. The garden is so beautiful. Room was comfortable and the place is just 5 min walking from a good restaurant named The Vagabondo. Establishment is efficient and well run. Amenities laid out for guests. The owners were Eager to please especially once they found out we spoke some German. Rooms were great and the staff was so friendly. They gave us great traveling advice and even made a fire for us on a chilly night!. For the price we paid (especially compared to Cape Town accommodation) it doesn't seem fair to be critical - but I would have liked better quality pillows and bedlinen. The wi fi in the room was very poor we had to go into the dinning room for better connection. It's not a big problem, but the room could have a small fridge. Nothing to complain about but if we didn't book ahead for a restaurant before arrival, we might have missed eating at the wonderful Italian restaurant. for south africa the rooms were small and without air-conditioning. One of our number, a single lady pensioner, had the front room facing the road and and found the traffic noise during the night upsetting. Nothing. It could do with a light over the mirror in the bathroom. Cooked breakfast was a bit small and basic. Nothing. nothing. Room was a bit small.
