Umlilo Lodge is located in St. Lucia, a small coastal village surrounded by the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, South Africa's first National World Heritage Site.

This village is the only one in the world to be completely surrounded by a World Heritage Site. Our en suite rooms are air conditioned, and have direct garden views or balconies overlooking the pool and garden.

The owners were wonderful to us. Service was perfect. This small family built lodge has a few rooms in the middle of a beautiful jungle garden. We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic!. Staff was friendly. Had excellent breakfasts, Outside area was lovely.

We had no issues. Our booking stated that we'd have a king sized bed, but we had 2 single beds pushed together which was dissapointing. The beds were also extremely uncomfortable. The mattress protectors were rotten and the linen was stained. The tooth brush holder was dirty from previous guests and therefore unusable. We felt that the room was not up to four star standard. Based on these factors we would not recommend the lodge.

Each room is equipped with WiFi, a minibar and tea-and-coffee-making facilities. They are all air-conditioned and have an en suite bathroom, and have direct garden views or balconies overlooking the pool and garden. For a surcharge, the property arranges dinner where authentic African dishes are served. Guests can relax at the shared lounge, on-site bar or outdoor swimming pool. Staff at the property can help arrange activities to nearby attractions such as game drives, snorkelling, fishing and boat cruises on the estuary. King Shaka International Airport is located 212 km away and Richard's Bay is a 50 minute drive from the property.

By Car:
- From Johannesburg, take the N12 road to Witbank and turn off to Ogies. Then go through Bethal, Ermelo, Piet Retief, Pongola.
- Continue south along the N2, past Mkuze and Hluhluwe.
- Take the turn-off left to Mtubatuba and St. Lucia. As you arrive in Mtubatuba, turn left to St. Lucia (25 km).
- Once over the bridge into St. Lucia, take a right at the roundabout (traffic circle) and continue down the main street.
- After passing Spar, keep a look-out for the thatched fruit market on your right. From here, take a left and you will see Umlilo Lodge.

- From Durban, take the N2 north. You have the option of the toll road or the alternate route via Stanger.
- 40 km after the turn-off to Richards Bay, turn right to Mtubatuba. As you arrive in Mtubatuba, turn left then right to St. Lucia (25 km).
- Once over the bridge into St. Lucia, take a right at the roundabout (traffic circle) and continue down the main street.
- After passing Spar, keep a look-out for the thatched fruit market on your right. From here, take a left and you will see Umlilo Lodge.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 60 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled up to 30 days before date of arrival, 25 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled up to 15 days before date of arrival, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Deposit Policy
