Situated on a working wine estate just outside Paarl, this 5-star lodge radiates the charm of a bygone age and provides you with an oasis of tranquility. Dating back to a time when the first European settlers arrived on the Cape, Palmiet Valley Estate has been a wine farm for over 300 years. Enjoy lunch under the canopies of ancient oak trees. Alternatively, you can dine in the Cape Dutch homestead, with its dark wooden ceiling and antique furnishings. Have a coffee on the patio overlooking the pool. Loungers are available for guests looking to soak up the sun after a quick dip. There you can also relax in style in the shade of palm trees after a romantic stroll through Palmiet Estate. Each of the 13 rooms is individually decorated and includes a selection of exquisite antiques. Enjoy a bath in your free-standing tub or a glass of complimentary port on your very own patio. Fresh fruit and a carafe of vintage port welcome you on arrival. First-class cuisine awaits you at Palmiet’s exclusive restaurant. What people say

What is not to like. The staff were excellent and nothing were to big for them to do. All you had to do was ask. The food in the restaurant was superb and service with a smile. Palmiet Valley was very well run, it was a relaxing, quiet and peaceful experience. Large pretty gardens with Cape Dutch buildings dotted around them. A special place to stay.
all reviews Staff Accommodation Breakfast Service. the staff made the place. they were very helpful and the chef was very friendly. the meals were excellent served outdoors under the large old oak trees with lunch and afternoon tea available if required all served from delicate english porcelain.. Very pretty location with beautiful Cape Dutch buildings. Great breakfast and served until 11am!. Wonderful view Excellent breakfast. Unfortunately the owner had died unexpectedly 12 months prior to our visit and it seemed as though the TLC had been lost as the place was not quite as clean as I would expect from a 5 star premises. the antique furniture was very nice but collected dust easily. Our cottage had lots of flies as it was close to the fruit farm and orchard. Very old sagging matrasses with dip in the middle. Beds can't be made onto 1 large bed, there's a 10cm gap in the middle due to the bedframe. Shower drainage (room 5) couldn't handle the water so overflows onto the bathroom floor. My girlfriend asked for a bottle of white wine. Instead of being offered a wine-list the lady brought us a bottle and upon checking out we found out that this bottle happened to be the most expensive bottle on the list. Not very customer friendly!. Electricity tripped No bath Room is missing some modern luxuries which you come to expect when travelling (E.G. tv).

Our restaurant is for the exclusive use of lodge guests. For a memorable dining experience we will plan the menu around their personal requirements. Weather permitting, a relaxed breakfast is served outside, under the canopy of the ancient oak and jacaranda trees, or on the terrace overlooking the aromatic herb garden. Alternatively, it can be offered in the historical dining room. Fresh home made fruit juices and preserves accompany our guests' choice from the extensive buffet with a variety of cooked dishes to tempt the palate.

Menus are changed daily. In the evening our chef creates a delicious 3-course meal, but for those with a smaller appetite we are happy to prepare something lighter such as a salad or single hot course - by prior arrangement. We pride ourselves on the use of the freshest ingredients, either from the garden or locally sourced.
