Absolutely everything. We stayed for four nights and wished it had been longer. Hospitable but not intrusive hosts, stunning rooms, supremely comfortable beds, crisp high quality bed linen, excellent breakfast with a choice of hot options. The staff were attentive and my special order of fresh fruit without pineapple was placed before me every morning without my having to ask. If I could give this place 20 out of 10, I would. Far exceeded expectations.
all reviews » We loved this impeccable 2 years old guest house in this lovely and historic town. It offers excellent value and is beautifully appointed by the owners Clive and Jeanne Garlick. Breakfast was delicious. The ten minute walk from the main street was a great way to work off the lovely food available in Franschhoek's restaurants and it also meant that it was really peaceful away from the through traffic. Our second stay.Wonderful hosts, accommodation, breakfast. Room out of this world, our own enclosed garden leading from the bed room. Great advice given regarding eating out and outings. Host and team so friendly,wonderful breakfast and we will definitely return next year. Beautiful accommodation in the most wonderful scenery. Breakfast delightfully presented and excellent food. Staff were friendly and helpful along with Zak the resident Labrador. Such a lovely place to stay, an oasis of calm. Would definitely stay again. Beautiful location. The views are beautiful, and the house is comfortable (although the mattress was rather hard). Excellent facilities Ideal for a short stay. Nothing. That we didn't allow a longer stay!. It's a long walk or very short drive into the centre - not really a problem, but just something to be aware of. I didn't feel like the cooked breakfasts matched the quality of the rest of the experience. The scrambled eggs were a little over-done and, having been offered mushrooms with our eggs we were brought back plates of just eggs, telling us that there were in fact no mushrooms available: should have known that before being offered it. TV was a bit small for European standards. Check in strictly between 2-6pm as small guest house (would suggest key deposit box with number padlock for late arrivals). Nothing!. It was a bit of a far walk to the main road in Franschhoek but the mountain views made up for this. distance from centre of town; minor point, position of hair dryer relative to mirror. Nothing. Bathroom door needs some oil..terrible noise. All of it!. The management could be improved, to ensure a tranquil atmosphere and that guests felt welcome. We felt more like an inconvenience to the managers, rather than guests. For example - we felt rushed to leave and that the managers wanted staff to start cleaning our room before we left. Another minor irritation was the managers sitting on the only sunny chairs on the stoep, precluding guests from sitting there. No personal contact with owners. Parking limited.
