We loved everything about Hotel Scala. Though it is located on a busy traffic street, once you step through the door it is quiet and lovely. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to be helpful. It is a 5 minute walk to the music hall and national art gallery and an east 25 minute stroll to the old town and its beautiful Austro-Hungarian facades. If you are visiting Romania for the first time, don't miss the Peasant Museum or the museum of village houses. Both are a perfect way to .

There seems to be no secret of hospitality to the hotel managers - they thought of every single tiny detail that might be important to a capricious traveller. Everything looked and was very natural but exquisite. This lovely little hotel, a four-star luxury refuge, offers refined lounges inside and out; it is elaborately decorated with a feminine flair. It is ideally located. The room was comfortable and spacious. The helpful staff takes good care of their guests. The hotel's restaurant is a plus, and has a chef that inspires with his original flavour combinations and beautiful presentation. I loved the decor, including all of the French furniture, and the music motif, which is found in the names of the rooms, the musical instruments and even in the chef's use of the treble clef in his presentation of the salmon. The hotel must be named after La Scala. Architecture, location, breakfast, free wi-fi. I had forgotten my sun glasses -they cost more than 100euro- at the bar. I called the staff the second day, they looked for and found my sun glasses, I was very happy about it. 10 points that's not enough. Everything was perfect. Air conditioner leaked and dripped in the room all night. Noisy creaky floorboards as old building and no elevator but only 3 floors. Unfortunately you can hear everything. Nothing. for 2 out of the 3 nights, the towels were old and over laundered . the guy in the reseption offered to bring the coffee which we ordered to the room and charged 1.5 the price of the coffee for room service without any warning. When you use your credit card to pay, it requires a pin--which I have never used with a credit card because then it is a cash advance. Also, online, the hotel stated that they took American Express--however, when we went to check out, we were told the AmEx line was down. That does create a bit of a problem. I was there for too short a time !. Given it is a period property with wood flooring and heavy doors it can be noisy at night when guests come back late. Air refresher spraide out automatically. Too much chemistry, as it comes with some hazzard to health. Another: sensors ( movement) in the rooms. Gives impression of presence of secret watchers/observers. Being a frequent traveller I do not recall any of such kind device in any 4 star hotel. No parking space. no elevator. I have no complaints. This hotel is recommended. The only issue I had with Scala Botique Hotel were the automatic airfresheners thought the hotel. The smell was so toxic I had to move the unit in my room and relocate to the balcony! If not mistaken air freshness are not healthy and once again toxic! Please remove these as soon as possible for guests like myself!. Rooms are over priced for what you get and there is no lift. There are no tea making facilities in the room. The hairdryer was not working. The toilet broke but they fixed it fast. nothing. We stayed in a room called "Melodica". The room was nice with a great balcony but at night we realised that we had the air conditioning machines on it (not only the one from our room but the ones from others) so we could not control the noise. The breakfast buffet wasn't great. The food unfortunately I have to say, although I'd return to the Scala in a heartbeat,I wouldn't use their restaurant again. nothing. It was stated in the brochure that parking was available but there is no parking at all at the hotel, I had to leave the car on the street but that was ok. My room was on the 3rd floor and with a heavy case and no lift I was ready for a shower when I got there!. Wood floor is a bit noisy. Bed mattress too firm No coffee or tea making facilities. Nothing. room and bathroom a bit small. Nothing.
